The 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme closed the book on Cutlass-based 442 model, and so we'll always want to cherish it. That's why it's great to find a highly original loaded T-top coupe like this.
Not only was this the final year for the Cutlass 442, but it was the only time you could get the later aerodynamic front end, which adds extra distinction to these concluding cars. A significant Olds like this needs to stand out from the crowd. So not only do you get a glossy black, but also there's plenty of precious metal appeal with the silver lower section. And providing a proper dividing line is the correct gold pinstripe package the encircles the whole coupe. This also coordinates with the subtle but sporty 442 badging. Part of the sporty look was also about providing less chrome than the other Cutlass siblings, and so those polished Super Stock wheels with 442 center caps are even bigger standouts.
Another great sign of care is the way the big coupe doors swing open with ease and close with authority. These are your gateway to a well-preserved and loaded interior. You get nice features like power windows, power locks, tilt wheel, center console, and cruise control. The factory air conditioning blows cold and now utilizes R134a for easy servicing. So feel free to take out those optional T-top panels even in the summertime. The comfortable cloth driver's bucket seat power adjusts to your ideal position. Its comfort and support make you instantly aware of this Oldsmobile's luxury and performance dual purpose. The original two-spoke steering wheel gives you a terrific view of the full gauge panel that includes a large speedo and tach - a very sporty touch.
Oldsmobile performance came from their 307 cubic-inch V8. This is the last of the great true Olds V8s, and it upholds the tradition of providing big torque in a rugged package. So it's great to have the numbers-matching motor still in the engine bay. Topped with a four-barrel carburetor and exhaling out of rumbling dual exhaust pipes, it provides the kind of old-school muscle that few others offered in the '80s. Also, just like a true classic muscle machine, you get upgraded suspension features, like sway bars front & rear. The 200-4R four-speed automatic transmission in the numbers-matching unit, and it's good for quick performance kick-downs and overdrive comfort. In fact, this one has all the right features for both cruising and performance driving such as power steering, front disc brakes, and a meaty set of BF Goodrich T/A tires.
There were only about 4,200 442s built in this bookend year, and far fewer have survived to look this good over three decades later. A coupe with this kind of presentation, rarity, and affordability heats up our showroom quickly. So you better call today to snag this muscle Olds!
