This old Ford Deluxe Cabriolet convertible is in spotless desert dry rust free original steel condition. The fenders and running boards have never been off the car since it rolled off the assembly line in 1940. Without a doubt one of the most spotless rust free 1940 Fords you could ever find. 100% Henry Ford steel.
Check out the original paint polished down to the red oxide factory primer on the hood and trunk as seen in the photographs. Still has beautiful high gloss everywhere and attracts a crowd at every car show. This old Ford still has it's an original 79-year-old front floor mat and original carpets in the rear. The floors, running boards, and trunk are beautiful all original condition including the rubber on the running boards. The door panels on both doors and rear panels are also 79-year-old Henry Ford. You can see red duct tape where some panels started to age. Everyone who sees this old Ford loves how these original panels have been preserved.
I purchased this car from Arizona, however, it started life in dry Washington prior to driving to Arizona.This old Ford just recentlydrove the whole way from Washington to Arizona with out a glitch. You will notice the previous owner from Washington removed the troublesome original flat head V-8 and installed a Chevrolet 327-300 HP small block V-8 with 12 volt conversion for fast easy starts unlike the original slow 6 volt starts.. This motor was completely rebuilt and has less than 1500 break in miles and runs like a Swiss watch. The conversion is state of the art utilizing a bell housing that adapts to the original Ford transmission with no modifications welding or cutting and bolts right in. This car shifts like butter and retains It's original 79-year-old 3 on the tree column shift 3 speed shifter. This old Ford also has its all original dash and gaugeswith a minty original 1940 steering wheel. When looking at this old Ford it looks like an old originaleverywhere until you open the hood. This keeps that great original 1940 Ford look.
All new radial tires allow this car to drive effortlessly down the road. New gauges have been installed to monitor oil pressure and temperature. The oil pressure is nice and high at 60 pounds at 2500 RPM running down the road, and 40 Lbs at ideal. This old Ford runs nice and cool all day long in 85 degree temperature. These old 327/300 HP motors run forever with factory recommendedoil changes and are usually good for 300,000 miles with easy running. This old Ford has a real nice zip when driving and can run all day long at 70 mph with out a hiccup, unlike the original old flat heads. Note the new Optima battery in the trunk. This car also has all its original Henry Ford tools in there original bag. Brand new cloth convertible top with new seat covers. This car is a joy to drive and goes down the road nice and quite with no rattles or vibration. The brakes are dead on and feel super tight when driving with no pull left or right and brakes this car fantastic.
The chrome is near mint on the front and back bumpers. The original grill is excellentcondition. This is a car you can get in and drive across country with no headaches. Truly a beautiful old Ford convertible. Too much to list. Please call and make an appointment to come drive this old Ford.
