- 1965 Ford Thunderbird
- Survivor Car with original paint, interior, engine, transmission, suspension, etc.
Wimbledon white exterior with black interior.
Car has never been molested, all original equipment is in place. Paint is in very nice original condition with good luster, does have some scratches and minor imperfections due to its age but is overall in very good condition. There is NO significant rust in this car. No rust through, no scaling or rust on floors, body panels, frame, etc. This is as rust free as it gets, no metal work required. There are several very minor areas oflight surface corrosion at edges of hood and trunk where paint is worn thin, and a couple of scratches with very light surface corrosion but overall this is a super clean body and chassis. Could be touched up and buffed for nice driver quality or wouldbe a very easy repaint.
Interior of this car is original with the exception of the cloth on the two front seats. Front seat cloth has been replaced with NOS original matching cloth. The rest of the interior is original and in exceptional shape for a car of this age. There are no seat tears, no cracks in dash, headliner is perfect, chrome trim in interior is very nice. Headliner is perfect. All door panels are perfect with the exception of the driver door panel which is very nice but has a minor imperfection on the armrest. All gauges work, AM radio works. wiper and all lights work. Power windows do not work. Everything is there but they do not operate. Motors are probably stuck from sitting. Could be an easy fix to tap on motors or could need replaced.
Glass is all in very could condition and original. All chrome and stainless trim is very nice. Bumpers have great luster and no pitting at all. Nothing would need to be re-chromed.
Engine is a 390 four-barrel and is original. Someone has repainted the valve covers, intake, etc. blue but I do not think the engine has been out of the car. The fuel system is rebuilt with new tank, pickup/sender, lines, fuel pump, and rebuilt original carb. Distributor has been rebuilt with Petronix electronic kit to replace the points. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. New water pump, hoses, belts. Original radiator has been re-cored. Engine runs smooth and cool with no leaks, no smoke, no noise.
Transmission is original automatic transmission with two drive ranges. I am not familiar with this type of transmission but it does not seem to shift automatically. Fluid is clean and bright red, goes right into gear in both forward and reverse and pulls strong. If you start off in low and shift to second it shifts firmly but if you start off in drive it seems to just stay in second gear and not shift. Could be an easy fix or could need to be pulled and repaired or rebuilt.
Suspension is original and the car drives nicely but I'm sure it could use the standard bushing kit given its age and mileage. Tires are new radials with no wear or dry checking, Brakes have been serviced with new pads in front and shoes in back, master cylinder is new, car stops fine. 65 is the first year for standard front disc brakes.
Car comes with the original owners manual, one set of original keys and one extra set of keys. I deal mostly in Mopar cars but appreciate them all. I bought this car because of its exceptional original condition but have too many projects to get to it anytime soon. I amreasonable to deal with and value my ebay rating. Please ask questions through ebay and I will respond promptly. I will be happy to show you the car in person oradd photos if there is anything specific you would like to see. Price and reserve are setvery reasonably for a classic car in this condition. With a little TLC this would make a great driver orwould be an easy restoration.
You are responsible for pickup or to arrange shipping, I will help any way I can.
Car is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
