So I am going to take a huge gamble and offer my 1971 VW Westfalia Camper Van/Bus for sale with NO RESERVE! I Do have for sale locally however and reserve the right to end early on the chance someone offers me an amount I cant refuse! This 1971 bus has been a labor of love for me over the past year and a half. As you can see from pictures at the bottom of my post, This bus came to me from a local VW Mechanic who serviced and maintained this bus for most of its life. The bus was a great running, driving, shifting bus with Zero rust issues and honestly not too bad looking at all. But it was Red, and to me, a red that just did not suit the bus well. My plans initially were to actually just restore the interior, because that's all I felt it "needed" but after stripping the interior out, I started taking windows out, and before I knew it, I had stripped the entire bus down (pictured) and deemed it worthy of an entire new paint job. I own Port City Custom Upholstery here in Wilmington NC and had a large roll of beautiful Blue fabric left over from a job I had done awhile back, and kept going back and forth between keeping it cost effective and repainting back red or biting the bullet and painting the bus to match this blue fabric. Well, as you can see, my better judgment took over and this bus came out stunning! I will give the proud new owner all of my before, during, and after photos I took along restoring this 71 camper. Everyone that comes to my shop is immediately drawn to it, and I bet it gets more pictures taken of it, then any other car that has ever been in my shop, and I get lucky enough to work on many cool rides! I have posted just a few of the pictures from the restoration process. All the new, now photos that are posted were literally taken tonight along with the walk around video that I have posted in the link below. All the material used on the interior including the custom tent on the pop up roof is high grade, marine fabric, that will not break down or fade in even the harshest environments. This bus runs and drives beautifully, and shifts just like it should. I will say, this bus is not for racing! It is so slow, but so cool! It is a cruiser, a fantastic one, so don't expect to outrun the cops or anyone for that matter, that is not what this camper is about. If you are not familiar with these older campers, the sink is not electric, it is a manual pump style, and has a large 5 gallon tank mounted between passenger rear seat and behind the "fridge". I put that in quotations because that too is not electric, it is only an ice box, meaning its more like a cooler! You can store ice in it to keep cool, and as the ice melts it has a drain tube along with the sink drain that flows out to the bottom of the bus onto the ground. The rear seat can fold flat to create a bed, and up top on the camper part, is a cot/bed that folds open to lay in. I tried my best to get all these features in the pictures. Along with the cool vinyls, I found some fun wild and vibrant colored fabric for all of the window drapes, and yes the all open and give complete interior privacy if you wanted! The wheels are in great shape, and if you look closely, you will see the white walls, are actually porta-walls, not real whitewall tires. I honestly was not sure if I was going to love the look or not, so I didn't want to fully commit to the decision, so this is what I decided on. If you do not like, I will take off for you, and if you do like, I can make them look perfect, by gluing them flat to the tire. I did not want to do something permanent knowing you might not like the way it looks. You will also see in some of the pictures I mounted LED lighting around the perimeter of the camper roof line, works very well at night to illuminate the entire interior. You will also notice the upgraded HID headlights w/ LED rings that come with a remote to turn on and off at any time, the bus does not have to be on, or running to operate. Also, the waterproof under-glow LED lighting runs off its own remote as well, that you can see in the video, and again can be turned on or off at anytime. All the lighting has different modes of flashing or strobing or transitioning from color to color or can stay solid any color at any time. The radio is hooked up and speaker wire run to each of the doors and even to the rear of the bus, but I did not want to cut holes in the door panels or have speakers cut or exposed anywhere, so I left alone, and that can be something you personalize, or not. All the lights front and rear work as you can see from video as well, and the only non operating function in the entire bus is the emergency flashers/turn signals. The lights light up on the dash and stay on instead of flashing like they are supposed to. This could be as simple as a fuse out, a bulb out, I have no clue, and I did nothing to diagnose this issue, because, well... yup, I'm that guy who doesn't use his flashers anyhow, so it didn't bother me! Again, this bus started as a rust free solid bus, and is still a rust free solid bus, the undercarriage and frame is perfect with no signs of even surface rust. I forgot to get pictures tonight, but if you would like some I can text you pictures of that and any other things you might want. I also forgot to take up close pictures of all the tags and plates all around this bus, but I can send those as well if you wish. My name is Brian, and my cell is 91O-52O-775eight. feel free to text/call me with any questions or even set up a time to check this camper out before auction ends. Best of luck to everyone, and I promise you, you WILL NOT be disappointed! I have 100% positive feedback for a reason, and am describing this Bus to the best of my ability. walk around video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmEtkAHO-k0 Night Shots When I First Bought Bus! As you can see, super solid, rust free to begin with!
