Car description

This Shelby GT500 was purchased by me in 2002 from a friend and Shelby enthusiast Tony Sousa. The car has been concourserestoredto Div.2 standards and has been judged last at SAAC 35 in Sonoma, alif. on Aug. 28, 010. It was judged by SAAC expert judges and received a Silver award in Division 2. This car has lived its life in California.I have all the vehicles documentation including: Marti report, uild Sheet, riginal invoice, rder sheet, uild sheet from under rear seat, ervice letter,shop manual, nd it has been in multiple publications. In "Mustangs Forty Years" it is on page 208 and the back cover. InMuscleCar color history "Mustang 19641/2 - 1973 by David Newhardt it is on page 94-95, 9 and is pictures of this car at Irwindaledrag strip.The car has 147 miles on itsrestoration and has beentrailered to events to maintain the cars new restoration. When restoring this car it was completely disassembled, nd all paint was stripped from undercarriage, loor pans, rame rails, ngine compartment, nd five layers of paintjobs removed from the body. All body pieces have great fit and alignment including the original hood. Lighttensionsprings for the hood have been used to keep it from bowing like you see on most all 69 Shelby's.The springs are not concours correct, ut hasmaintained a very well fitting hood. The car was professionally painted with the correct color of Acapulco blue in a two stage paint (Base coat, lear coat).The driver side headlamp box has a crack in the side of the fiberglass that developed after reassembly and could be easily repaired. The original bumpers,chrome trim, ood locks were all re-finished. All stainless steel trim all polished. All of the glass is original Carlite and in good shape, xcept theWindshield. Theoriginal Windshield delaminated when removing all the glass during therestoration and had to bereplaced with a brand new Carlite. The wheels are the originalcenters and have been professionally restored by paradise wheels with new outer rims that arecorrect to the originals. The wheels are riveted like the originals and are notwedded like reproductions.The correct Goodyear Polyglass tires are new and where placed on for concours judging.The 428 has been rebuilt to stock specifications, nd all 8cylinders were sleeved in order to keep the original block with this car. Theblock was found bored .30 over and returned tooriginal stock piston size. All receipts for the rebuild are available. The heads are correct date coded for the car, ut are not theoriginal number matching headsthat came on this car. The heads are completelyrebuilt with new stainless valves, ardened seats, hree angle valve job, new matchedsprings and retainers with original adjustable rocker arm assembly. The Carburetor has been professionally concourse restored and is thecorrect date code for a manual transmission 428. The original smog system, eat riser tube, ndair cleaner are all present. The close ratio Toploader transmission has been inspected and resealed. The rear differential was not theoriginal housing or gears when I purchased the car. The correct housing was found and purchased. It has thecorrect 31spline axles and thecorrect date code Nodular case that has been concours detailed, he third member has beenprofessionally built with all new Traction lock, ears, earings,and is currently 3:50 ratio and not the 4:30's. The original plan was to drive the car when I was restoring the car and wanted somefriendlier gears for the highway.All of the suspension has been rebuilt with new bushings, all joints, ie rods,springs, hocks, tc.. Thesteering components have all been rebuilt with originalford parts including the P/Scontrol valve.Theinterior was freshened up with a new headliner, isors, arpet, ail panels, eat upholstery,seat foam, nd original ford weather stripping. Itmaintains the original dash pad, oor panels, onsole, hat have been freshened up.Therear fold down seat has been freshened up andunfortunately has a very small tear in the seat back.The seat belts and retractors are original and in good shape and have not beenrestored. The shifter is a newcompetitionhurstshifter and is not the original, have the shifter that came with the ca, ut it will need to be rebuilt.I haveowned this car for 13 years and I haverepresented this car to the best of my knowledge, ndplease ask me any questions about the car that are not listed in the description.
