Car description |
---|
I have a 1970 Fiat 500 Gruppo 5/Abarth 696ss Corsa race car. It is a project car withmost of the hard work done. It does not look like it, but this car is street legal in Oregon and I have a current Oregon title and current plates. I have done everything I can to make this car light weight - I estimate it weighs about a thousand pounds while the brand new racing motor has about twice the HP of the stock motor. It is a hair over 4' tall and is about 10' long.
These little "monsters" are very quick and are raced extensively in the radically modified "Gruppo 5" class in Italy. I have owned many of these tiny Fiats - the last one was a 5 year restoration project. I have attached a couple of pictures of artist conceptions of how I envision this car to look when finished - two possible paint schemes. Of course, you may have your own ideas.
I have spent alot of time and a ton of money on this little Fiat and have purchased virtually every new part available. The few remaining parts needed can be purchased at a reasonable price. Most of the pieces/components have been pre-fitted and are ready to be bolted on once the car is painted, but there is still more fitting/tinkering to be done. I have installed the racing exhaust, gear shift mechanism and other components including cables. I put fluids in the motor and transmission and have had it running on a temporary gas tank. The fuel cellis now powder coated, so the car could be run on the cell when ready - the fuel lines are plumbed and ready to be attached to the fuel cell. The new brakes have been bled. Iinstalled a new battery. With some minor tweaking, the car could be driven.
