Kurtis-Kraft Midget Racecar 1947 VIN 155-Midget Hall of Famer owned.raced history. Retired in the 60's returned to "safer" condition and streetable.
Generally as raced these warriors, popular in post WW2, were equipped with in/out gearboxes, push start, no reverse, rear only brakes and tuned engines of over 100HP in 900 pound framesThey also were very tight for the driver.
In vintage roadracing they are unbeatable, good for Hill Climb, and roundy round-
As this car was "developed" over time the wheelbase went from 72 to 77 inches with a coil over Winters quick change. This also added 5 critical inches to the interior legroom-, There' a clutch and 3 forward/1 reverse gearbox, alternator, starter motor, battery, fans, lights, gauges.
The engine is a Studebaker Champion 6 cylinder Flathead-standard rating 85HP-They can be worked to 200HP Supercharged-This has twin Holley 847s on an offenhauser manifold, custom headers, Joe Hunt Vertex Magneto-good oil pressure-no sounds other than a chuffeing/barking exhaust.. The Brakes are Wilwoods-Most Hardwear is AN-Lines/Heims.
9ft long overall,56 inches wide, 40 tall. 900 pounds, Outside lever for brakes on lef, right side exhaust.
Title never issued-Intended to street use-A primal ride and "Unsafe at any speed"-perhaps?
