Car description |
---|
Up for auction is my friends1953 MG TD. He's owned the car for some years and he is the 2nd familyto own the car as he understands it. Originalengine and drive train so is a true numbers matching car. I will make every effort to detail everything about the car so all interested will be fully informed prior to bidding. This is you chance to get a solid straightforward MG TD well below the current market value.Make no mistakeshe is selling this week to the highest / last bidder. Much has been done to the car so please take time to read the auction in its entirety.
As I understand the story the original owner Mr. Goldstein gifted the car to his son in law in January1966 while living in Hartford Connecticut. His son in law was living in West Haven Connecticut at that timebut subsequentlymoved to Texas shortly thereafter. After moving to Texas the car was kept stored in doors and only taken out on rare occasions. In 2015 the familyof the son in law asked a dealer friend in Princeton Texas to sell the car on . That's when the car came into my friends possession. Since my friend purchased the car he has driven her occasionally about twice a month and always after being serviced on a regular basis. She has always been stored in doors and is rock solid. This is a true fine if your looking for an originalMG TD in near originalcondition.
Mechanicals:The car runsgreat. Runs like a "sewingmachine".Starts right up with no issues, smoke or ticking noises even after sitting for long periods of time. The car was recently serviced. The service included New points, new spark plugs, new ignition wires, new distributor cap, new rotor button, oil change, new oil filter and the carburetors where professionally tuned / balanced. Other items included new brake master cylinder, new front brake wheel cylinders, new frontbrake shoes, new front brake hoses, new rear brake cylinders, new rear brake shoes and new rear brake hoses.
Exterior:The car shows well in the photos and presents herself well in person. She is remarkably straight as seen in the photos.Car sits nicely on the ground with no real visible signs of leaning or sagging. The car is known to have had one repaint in her life which was done sometime in the early 80's so it does show some wear and aging. No known rust repairs or panels replacement. Not a show car but avery nice car in presentable / driver quality condition.
Interior:The interior is nice as seen in the photos. Very presentable and highly original.
Side Curtains:As you can see in the photos the car has all four side curtains. All 4 are in nice condition
Soft Top:The soft is in overall nice condition as seen in the photos.
Underbody:The underbody is in very good condition. Many underbody photos are available upon request.
Title:Car comes with a Connecticut state issued title dated 1966 and a clear title reassignment form.
