1971 MGB Roadster
Watch people's necks break as they turn to stare at this red-headed stunner for as long as they can!
I'm the third owner of this extremely well maintained British classic that was garaged almost its entire 45 year life. Unlike most MGB's, mine has NO RUST on the door sills, floor boards, motor mounts, and most of the under-carriage. There is however some rust at the bottom of the wheel well (see photos) that can easily be repaired. There is also one small ding on the front-left panel from the door being opened too far. The body is not in perfect condition but extremely good condition and can easily be restored to showroom condition with little effort.
As for mechanical integrity, I've driven this reliable little gem from Manhattan to Montauk without a hiccup! The engine runs so well it literally purrs when its at idle. The clutch and manual 4 speed transmission are perfect, the steering is excellent, brakes, and front end were all recently redone including shocks. The only mechanical issue that can use a little fixing is the rag-tops metal frame-it needs to be spot welded in two area if you plan on opening/closing a lot, otherwise you can work it by hand.
No major work has ever been done to this beauty, no accidents, no engine problems, nada.
I also have all the parts and service records since I purchased it and the previous owners records too!
The features on this MGB are amazing:
-106,000 miles
-New front end, suspension, bushings etc. Dives like new.
-Chrome wire wheels in PERFECT condition including spare
-Chrome bumpers
-Weber carburetor upgrade=no tuning ever!! better MPG
-Electronic ignition upgrade=no point to change
-Heavy duty steel roll bar with vinyl padded cover from Victoria British
-Mahogany wood steering wheel and shifter
-Newly carpeted trunk with full size wire wheel and cover
-Battery mover conveniently to trunk
-Two hidden front fog lights
-Plus a lot more I'm probably forgetting!
This is Britain's #1 selling sports car of all time produced from 1962 to 1980. It's extremely reliable, good on gas (18-22mpg) and all parts are still sold through Victoria British. com. MossMotors among others. This car is easier and cheaper to maintain than modern sports cars and blows them all off the road in style, class and charm!
