Car description |

For sale is a 1986 Mercury Capri ASC McLaren Convertible. It is one of 254 produced that year. The car is white with Navy blue interior and top. It has 75,200 original miles. The car is in overall nice shape. I would rate it a 7 out of 10. The paint is all original. It does not appear tohave ever been in anaccident and none are reported to Carfax.
The car is powered by the 5.0 V8 with fuel injection. Ibelieve it is rated at 200HP and 285LBFT. It has an AOD automatic transmission. All of the power features work as do all the electrics including the radio, warning lights andcruise control. The only item currently not working is the AC. It has been converted to R134 as shown in a picture. I do not know what the issue is. Could be low on freon. The compressor is free, but does not engage.
In the last year a new master cylinder, water pump, fuel pump, calipers, brakes and shoes have been replaced. In the last month all 4 tires and a new radiator have been added. The top was replaced in 1998. It is in excellent shape as are theplastic windows. The seats were recovered about 5 years ago and look new. The carpet is fine, thefloor mats need replaced. They are actually sold on Ebay. The car has had about 1k miles put on it in the last 16 years. I have a lot of documentation since it was sold for the second time in 1994. The car starts right up and has great oil pressure and such. Once it warms up the idle surges a little bit. It does not die. I'm guessing its a sensor. It runs down the road just fine. It reallyjust needs to be driven.
The car fax shows a huge mileage increase which is not correct. It did not go from 24K to 160K. Someone added a one in front of the actual 60Ksomewhere. I have all paperwork from this era showing actual mileage as it was accrued.
Overall, its a clean example of a pretty rare car. It can be driven and enjoyed as it sits or one could start some type of restoration process if they wanted to.
