Car description

I have a feeling this may be a long description. so bear with me. Here we have a truck that's about as unique as they come. This is a 1978 Ford F-250 4x4 that is in excellent always garage kept condition with very low mileage. The sheet metal is totally straight - dent. ding and rust free. It drives perfectly - goes down the road straight as an arrow. And here's where the unique part comes in. The original owner had a high end machine shop and mold making business. and spent untold hundreds of hours installing a freshly rebuilt Detroit Diesel 6V53 engine with a Allison AT547 automatic transmission. It wasn't just a drop in or back yard installation by any means. It was a complete ground up transformation. The frame was heavily reinforced. the differentials and suspension were beefed up. F650 master cylinder and heavier duty brakes installed in the front and rear. Stops on a dime. Lots of custom stainless steel components. such as a 50 gallon capacity fuel tank. exhaust outlets. etc. And some components that looks like works of art - How about exhaust manifolds created out of investment cast stainless steel? They shine like chrome. like amazing stainless steel sculptures. Also works of automotive art are the custom machined and polished cast aluminum valve covers. Everywhere you look there are hand made items. such as the supercharger end plates. air box covers. oil pan. air intake. the list goes on. Check out the stainless steel pipe under the front fender well in the last picture. Amazing craftsmanship. Simply too much beautiful cast. machine. welding. and fabrication work to describe. Obviously. a small showcase of the builders talents. In addition. lots of custom leather work. Seat. door panels. dash. headliner. sun visors. and even the tonneau cover are super high quality custom leather. The American Racing rims have perfect chrome. and the tires are about 95%. Oh. and bonus if your name is Bob. as that in embroidered in the middle of the seat. If your name is not Bob. then just call this truck Bob like I do. Some call it The Bob Truck. I think it should be left this way. in honor of the great American tradesman that built this rig. I have owned it for about 8 years or so. I've taken it to charity events and car shows. and when you fire this baby up. It gets the undivided attention of everyone in the vicinity. They are looking for a 30 ton rough terrain crane. or a 50. 00 lb Taylor forlift. or a vintage Greyhound bus. and what they see is a cool looking vintage F250. If there is ever an EMP attack or zombie apocalypse. this is the truck to have. Nothing can stop it! In all seriousness. I've had a lot of fun with this truck. But it's just been taking up room in my warehouse for the last couple years. and I really need to make room. It needs some detail work to be mint. and I just don't have the time. On top of that. my wife told me to never drive it home again because she thinks I'm pissing off the neighbors when I fire it up early in the AM when I leave for work. Me? I don't give a crap if my neighbors hate me. They can just hate me. and my truck. Big deal. Oil and oil filter recently changed. as well as the fuel filter. Ok. let me tell you the down sides. because I want you to know what you are getting into. This truck is loud when it's opened up. Detroit Diesel's are a 2 cycle engine. which means very time a piston hits TDC. it's firing off a power stroke. And they have superchargers by design (which emit a distinct whine). So the sound they make is very unique. and not for the timid. And you can put the biggest mufflers in the world on it. it's still going to wail under load. If you think you're going to enjoy your favorite Barry White mix cassette while cruising with your fine lady. well. it ain't going to happen. Personally. I think it sounds killer. As a diesel mechanic in my youth. I cut my teeth on Detroit's and I will always have a spot in my heart for them. No other engine like it. One time I pulled up to a red light next to a kid in a jacked up Dodge pickup with a Cummins with big stacks sticking out of his pickup bed. When I mashed the pedal on this piece and it instantly shot to 2800 rpm. the look of shock and utter defeat on his face was just priceless. The insane big truck sounds coming from this F250 totally stomped the colon of his diminutive sounding Cummins. It's a torque monster. given that the power train was designed to pull a 30. 00 lb truck down the road. And you will never wear this powertrain out in your lifetime. And I need to disclose that it leaks a little oil. Looks like a little is drooling from one or two of the airbox doors. and the oil pan. This is generally typical of these engines. and a relatively easy fix if you are mechanically inclined. Again. I just don't have the free time because I have too many projects. career. and family activities going on. This truck deserves more rubbing and detailing and snugging of pan bolts than I can provide. I kind of hate to sell it. but I just don't drive it very much. and I need to start directing more funds to college savings accounts (don't get me started. ). It simply needs to be in the hands of another hairy back having goof ball with a profound appreciation of trucks and burning fossil fuels. So bid to buy. This truck can do it all: It can impress your friends. piss off your neighbors. make your wife look at you like you are some kind of maniac (again). easily pull tree stumps out of your yard. embarrass every other diesel powered pickup on the road. run over hundreds of zombies while the 6V-53 screams and the Allison rows through the gears for you. And it'll always bring a smile to you face. You name it. this truck will do it. This is the truck that would make Al Gore wet his custom tailored pants. I have some pictures of the build process. Message me with your email address and I will send them. I'll make a Youtube of it too. just ask. I have the reserve set to where I'm losing enough money than I would ever want my wife to know. Oh. one more thing. About 2000 miles ago I installed a $3500 Gear Vendors overdrive to make it little more mellow at turnpike speeds. Nice improvement. you'll need a little less Advil after an extended interstate cruise. Well I guess that's about it. Any questions? Just ask. Thank you. Thank you very much.
