Car description

I have owned this truck for the last 3 years or so. I really had lots of fun with this truck. I have bought another toy so it is time for another person to enjoy! This is a very rare Truck. Ford had a very limited run of F350's designated as a Super Camper Special, where the wheel base was extended to accommodate heavy slide in campers. For more info, go to wiki and check it out. It is a cool story on these rare trucks. Here is a small sample of data:

"Made for serious campers looking for extra hauling capacity, a compliant ride, and conveniences like a built-in pigtail for easy trailer hookups and a sliding rear bumper that adjusted to aftermarket camper overhangs, the Super Camper Special was a plug-and-play camper conversion dream.Ford started by increasing the wheelbase to an astounding 140 inches on a narrower eight-inch-tall, one-ton frame, with a single Dana 70 full-floating rear axle and twin I-beam front. Available only as a two-wheel drive single cab, the extended wheelbase made for a stable, better-riding truck with less camper intrusion, which eliminated the space normally reserved for the spare behind the rear axle. Ford fixed this with a secret compartment and detachable body panel on the passenger side of the bed for spare tire storage."

This truck came out of the high mountain desert of western Colorado. I bought it from a retired Vietnam Vet, thus the Ace of spades skull emblem on the fenders, which I thought was cool, so I left them on the truck. The truck is rust free beauty (99.9% rust free). I was really pleased with my purchase. It has a 460 cubic inch engine that was rebuilt by the original owner. I was told he was a mechanic. It makes sense, given the grease pencil notes scribed here and there for anyone servicing the vehicle to see. Like the truck takes 7 quarts of oil, not the 6 the book says, because he added an extra heavy duty oil cooler. Stuff like that, is all over the truck letting you know it was well cared for in every respect. I upgraded the carb to a 650CFM Edelbrock and added a HEI Distributor, new plugs and wires. The tires were replaced as well, upgraded to an aggressive tread for a cool look and great traction. Everything worked as it should when I was done going through everything. Sometimes these truck will sit and if they ever had ethanol in it that can be really bad, so I replaced carb, plugs and anything else I found that was not working. The speedo sometimes bounces a bit, but that did not bother me. I did notice on most recent drive that the turn signal bulbs were out. So make sure you replace the bad bulbs. I don't think I ever did bulbs, so god only knows how old they are! Now I own a lot of these trucks so I can't remember for sure, but I believeI did the front brakes on this truck as well. If I did the brakes, then I did the bearings too, while I was in there. I am like that. I am a maintenancenerd. I cant stand to see something not properly serviced. The tailgate locking rods were replaced. The trans was rebuilt by previous owner. The rear end diff fluid changed and chrome cover added. The truck has dual fuel tanks and YES the switch on the floor works as it should. the gas caps were replaced as well with correct chrome Ford caps. Please note the truck has a great patina, right out of the high mountain desert, however the paint is thin in spots. Also the muffler is long gone, and I like the rumble sound, so I left it alone. The bed of the truck is in fantastic condition, relatively dent free given its almost 50 years old. The odometer shows 68K, but I cannot verify its actualmileage. You can tell it had a camper in it to protect the bed for many years! This is a great Super Camper Special, I think this year they only made 3,500 of these trucks. It is a rare bird. These trucks were beefed up to handle the rigors of a heavy slide in camper, so the suspension was upgraded to a 10,000GVR which is a big deal back then. They also came with Power steering cooler, Heavy Duty Oil cooler, Heavy Duty radiator, heavy duty transmission cooler, dual gas tanks, triple walled beds, sliding glass window (rare), dual battery were standard, Power steering-with HD cooler, Air conditioning (not connected), heavy duty alternator, 4.11 rear gears, auto C6 3 speed transmission (let that gear ratio set in for a bit with a C6 transmission!). This truck was designed to haul. I have described the truck in great detail and it should give a buyer confidence to bid to win. I would not hesitate to drive this across country if that tells you anything! This would make for a great truck for the Ford enthusiast who wants a special truck!

Now for the business end of things. eBay is NOT a GAME. It takes time to list, photograph and otherwise put it on eBay. DO NOT BID if you need your wife's permission to buy, you do not have cash or if you want to get a loan. I require full payment within 48 hours. I could care less about a deposit. Bid to win it and then pay for it via bank wire transfer. No cash on delivery, no payments, no pay pal. As you can see I have been burnt a few times. Please respect my time. If you have questions, please CALL. Serious buyers will call. My number is 910-476-4268, ask for Lee. The truck is in North Carolina, zip code 28311. You can research shipping costs from that. In todays day in age it is easier and cheaper to ship a car rather than fly out and drive back, after fuel, airline ticket and your time. However, its up to the buyer. I will work with your shipper to make sure it gets loaded up. Please note I have 100% feedback. I buy and sell expensive toys all the time. I have done dozens of car transactions over the last 20 years on eBay. So bid with confidence.
