Car description

For sale:1973 Ford F250 Camper Special Ranger XLT solid western truck, sold new and lived life in the arid high desert of Montana. One repaint on rare and desirable factory color options of Candyapple Red over Royal Maroon. Original survivor interior. One owner from 1973-2016, I am the second registered owner. All original docs including window sticker, manuals, warranty booklet and owner card. Original jack, handle and lug wrench. I purchased the truck last year for the nice body to put on a Highboy chassis but after using it for a backup driver the last year it's just too nice a truck to mess with. It's a rare and desirable truck in it's own right that deserves to be driven and enjoyed.
Exterior: One repaint in original Candyapple Red/Royal Maroon many years ago but it still shines bright and presents very well. Casual observers will find no faults, car show nitpickers will notice a few scratches here and there and three small areas where clear flaked, at the end of each box rail and above rear window on cab pillar. Not noticeable with topper on. Really a stunning truck when cleaned up and I can't escape a gas station without compliments. No exterior rust, only spots I can find are in driver footwell area (there's a hole there) and a small spot on one cab mount. Treat those areas with Metal Ready and POR-15 and they should be good. See linked Photobucket album for more photos. Exterior chrome is not pitted. Grille surround is very nice, so there's $600 you don't have to spend. Moldings are good except tailgate moldings and rear cab molding, those are dinged. Box was replaced at the time of repaint due to some damage to original box. Tailgate was stolen at some point, and a replacement was sourced but it's only in fair shape. Needs a new tailgate or this one worked on to be really nice. This one works, but only one latch as the latch mounting holes are damaged on one side. Glass is good except windshield which is cracked. Original stainless camper mirrors are in good condition. Topper is included and has a key to lock the back hatch.

Interior: Original in decent condition and presents well. Original dash is not cracked, door panels not torn. Original carpet has a hole on driver side under the floor mat as shown in Photobucket pics. Seat upholstery is good but there are three small tears low on the seat near the floor that aren't noticeable. Most everything works, see function list below.
Mechanical: Starts, runs and drives and I've been using it for dump runs and as a backup work commuter. No major leaks or smoke and doesn't heat. Truck has 160k highway miles, engine was rebuilt at around 100k but it's got a bearing noise at light throttle. Oil pressure is on the low side but still in the operating range. I've had a professional Ford mechanic listen to it and he says it will go a long time if you're putting around town, not as long if you blast down the interstate at 80mph. Thankfully FE engines are plentiful and plenty of room under hood makes for an easy swap. Most everything works, see function list below. Fuel gauge is non-op, probably needs sending unit. I've only used the front (auxillary) tank but the rear tank doesn't smell fouled. Tires are in excellent condition and the rears look new. All 5 original 16.5 inch rims are there with the original hubcaps.
Misc: Just a clean, nice old truck for Saturday trips to the Home Depot or to the Steak N Shake with the wife. Prices are moving up quickly on these trucks. I'd really like to see this go to a good home with a caring owner, so it's no reserve and the truck will sell. I'll find another body for my Highboy project.

TRUCK RUNS but flying in and driving it home a long distance isn't a good idea. The engine is weak and Montana is a rural state with long stretches of desolate highway with poor cell service. Reasonable transport is available. Title is clear and in my name.

You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the truckprior to bidding.I'm not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I'm an enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the truck, just ask! I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly.Transport isreadily available, and probably cheaper than fixing rust on an eastern tetanus truck. After the sale, I can store the truck for up to 30 days free, after that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as truck is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time.
