THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. PLEASE HAVE ALL APPROVALS NEEDED AND FUNDS AVAILABLE BEFORE YOU BID. LAST BIDDER OWNS THIS 64 1/2 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE. THANK YOU. I have a 1964 1/2 Mustang D code convertible that has had the restoration started but never finished. The D code serial number decodes as a early 289 4 Barrel engine. This is a very RARE car. It has the correct 64 1/2 beveled headlight buckets and the correct 64 1/2 hood with the curved lips left un-crimped as only the 64 cars were.
THIS MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE IS A VERY EASY RESTORATION TO FINISH! All the HARD work has been done and the panels all line up PERFECTLY! This is a perfect winter project for any person that has minimal auto body repair skills or even if you don't have any body repair skills Dakota Technical College has an Auto Body Repair Course where you can learn how to finish this car and even take it into their shop and refinish as a class project for a very reasonable fee.
This car has had most all of the rust repaired. All of the gaps are PERFECT on this car. The repairs were done semi professionally and just need a little cosmetic finishing up on some of them to make them look nicer but over all it's a solid job that will last. The inner rocker panels were repaired not replaced. This is because they weren't that bad. This car still has most of it's original sheet metal and the door jambs are still factory and look great!
You can see in the pictures how nice the shock towers and front frames are as well as the horns mounted om the inside of the engine bay which is a 1964 1/2 trade mark.
This is a D Code 289 4 barrel car with auto trans and factory power steering and power top and spinner wheel covers.
I got this car in pieces but have assembled all of it so that even a beginner can finish this car. I put all the correct bolts in the correct places so you will know how to take it apart and put it back together when you finish it.
The car has a 1965 A code 4 barrel (C5OE 4V Intake Manifold ) 289 engine with 1965 Heads and C5OE exhaust manifolds as well as a partial serial number stamped on the block showing this engine is a TRUE 1965 A code Mustang GT engine and 1967 Cougar C4 automatic transmission in it. The engine runs but that's all I know about the engine and transmission. The engine actually looks like it has been rebuilt and has clean paint and all new freeze plugs.
This car will need a total finish restoration including going through the drive-line and brakes etc.
Surprisingly the original interior is still pretty nice. One seat is cracking on the top but is does have a brand new carpet with it and the original floor console too! As you can see it will need a new convertible top too.
I have included what I thought are the most important pictures to let you see what I have but know it's hard to know exactly what your bidding on from a description. All I can say is that I restore Mustangs and this car has good bones to build from. You will notice from my feedback of the cars I sold on Ebay that I am HONEST and TRUST WORTHY so I can only tell you what I see or know about the car. I did not do any of the restoration on this car. All I did was assemble it. It is a very easy project though and all of the hard repairs have been done already!
I have a clear title that matches the fender apron vin number. The door data plate is missing.Don't miss out on this GREAT COMPLETE 1964 1/2 D code Mustang convertible. You couldn't even have a shop install floors and inner rockers for what you can own this car for! The front frame rails are rust free! It needs new front torque boxes but the rest of the front is good. Even the nuts where the front bumper brackets bolt to are still good! The rear frame rails are bubbled by the rear shackles and the left rear torque box needs some repair. You can see this area in the last 3 pictures. This wasn't as rusty as most old Mustang convertibles are. The floors were only replaced in small sections with original type repair panels because it wasn't that rusty. The original rear quarter panels only had lower rear and front panels replaced, The inner wheel wells are still original! Plus the original interior is still pretty nice.
You will have less money into this car than you can buy a finished one for plus you can build it exactly to the specs you want.
Please call or text 763-291-0343 if you have any questions. . Please don't call me and ask me a million questions about the condition etc. It's a solid car that has perfectly aligned body gaps all around! It's very complete and would only need a few small new items.
Car is located in Rosemount MN zip 55068. It is buyers responsibility to arrange transportation for a NON OPERATIONAL VEHICLE FROM ZIP 55068. I am available to help load the car and my schedule is usually wide open.
