1928 Ford Model A Pickup
For those of you looking for a great original pickup to either restore or drive as-is, this one is for you! All original, this truck was owned by the same family for over 50 years and spent most of its life on a farm in central Montana!! As it had been used on the farm, the title has long since been lost, but a notarized Bill of Sale on official Montana Department of Motor Vehicles form. It is my intent to describe the condition of this pickup in as great detail as possible, but I encourage you to look at each of the photos and feel welcome to ask as many questions as you would like either via the eBay message board or by calling me (Chad) at (406)403-6921.
BODY/SHEET METAL: Just look at the photos of this pickup and you will see how tremendous its condition is!!! There are no areas of rust on this pickup and very few dents or dings. The only element of this pickup’s body that is in need of repair are the two rear fenders…the rear ends of them were bobbed off at some point in this truck’s history. The front fenders, running boards and splash aprons are in great condition. The hood and grill shell are also in great condition. The box is solid and in need of only a new wood floor kit. The original head lights are included with the truck, but those on the truck are old King Bee upgrades to allow for seal beam headlights. The tailgate is a bit battered showing wear from its years of service on the farm, but very repairable. The original visor is included with the truck (see photo). Originally this visor was a steel frame with a canvas overlay. The steel frame is there, but the canvas overlay has been replaced with sheet metal bent over the frame (easily removed). We at Montana Vintage Tin, LLC are Authorized Dealers for Brookville Roadster, Inc. and can supply all the needed replacement sheet metal, parts and accessories (i.e. rear fenders and bed wood kit with strips) in a separate purchase. The structural wood in this truck is very solid. The top wood has been exposed since the canvas top has been weathered away and may need a top bow or two replaced. Please note, in the photo of additional parts/pieces where the windshield frame is visible, the top portion of the frame is missing, but it is still installed on the cab of the truck as are the swing arms. So, the windshield frame IS complete.
ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/REAR END: The running gear of this pickup is the original Ford Model A running gear and will run and drive. As you can see from the photo, the engine compartment is complete and lacking very little if anything. The transmission shifts and the rear end turns well. The brakes are original mechanical brakes and should be gone through before driving the truck extensively. A new muffler and tailpipe are included with the truck. All five (including spare) original wheels are included with the truck, along with new tires and tubes.
INTERIOR: Even though there is not much to the interior of these trucks, this one is very complete including the seat frame, seat springs, gauge cluster, etc. As I mentioned, the structural wood in this truck is very sound, but the top wood is in need of repair if you intend on replacing the fabric top insert. The floors of the cab are very solid. The front floor is made of the original wood, but a steel front floor (18 gauge sheet metal) is available for purchase along with a recessed fire wall if desired.
Again, this truck has no title, but a notarized Bill of Sale will be provided to the buyer. This truck is being sold in “as-is, where-is” condition and no warranty/guarantee, written or implied, exists with this vehicle. A $500.00 deposit is required at the time of purchase with payment in full required before the vehicle is released for transport. Transportation costs are covered by the seller within the lower 48 United States and within a 2000 mile radius of vehicle location. Transportation will be via a carrier of the seller's choosing.
