Up for auction is a really cool hot rod 1938 Dodge coupe. and custom trailer. I built this car and trailer several years ago and have a lot of fun with it but it is time for it to find a new home. Here is some of the details. the body was made up of a'38 Dodge coupe roof and doors chopped 3 and 1/2 ". with a '39 Pontiac 2 dr. trunk and rear window added on. hand made quarter panels and roll pan out of an old Buick hood finish the rear. Up front is a '36 Nash grill. and '38 Packard headlights. It rides on a '40 ford straight axle with split wish bones and a traverse spring. The frame was made from '36 Chevy rails z'ed 11 inches with custom cross members. The x member from a '40 Chrysler was also used. All in all parts from over 30 different years and makes of vehicles was used. I did all the fabrication. paint. wiring. and interior myself. . even sewed the zebra striped headliner. Most of the surface patina. original weathered paint and rust. was left as is and I painted over any bodywork to blend in with what real paint was left. I added the number. lettering and pin striping. It all looks like it has been this way for many years! Since I am a Mopar fan it is currently running a '69 440 engine that is . 30 over. 516 closed camber heads. Weiand tunnel ram with 2 BIG carter AFB's. The transmission is a A-833 4 speed. with a Hurst competition plus shifter and a tall custom made shift handle. A 11" Centerforce clutch and a braced 8 3/4 Chrysler rear end. with 4. 56 gears does the rest. It is hung with 4 link and Koni coil overs. Disc brakes in front and drums in the back. Tires are 5. 00 x 16 Firestone ribbed dirt track in front and 15x 32 American Racer dirt track tires in back. Also included is a set of slicks on matching wheels for the track!!!!! You can't beat that with a stick! or a Chevy! The car is loud and rowdy but. I have driven it about 15. 00 miles all over the place including Hot Rod Magazine's Drag Week 4 times. with a best finish of 3rd in the Hot Rod class. It ran a 12. 7 at 105 mph in the quarter. I drives straight on the track. It does have manual steering and is not hard to drive on the road . ut don't plan on doing any cone racing! It is best suited for a driver no taller than 6 feet. If you are 5'8 to 5'11so much the better. It always gets lots of attention at shows. and has won a lot of awards. and has been in several magazines. I won't list them all here but can make a list if you want to know. Included in this auction is this cool car AND its very own way cool trailer! The trailer has a lot of room for hauling whatever you want and even has a pull out tent! It will sleep one. or 2 if you are REAL good friends. A bed spring frame and zip up door/windows (with mosquito netting) makes things comfortable.
