Car description

1969 ½ Dodge Coronet A12 Super Bee (WM23M9A261xxx) factory 440-6 pack car with a factory Hurst console 4-speed and Dana rear end! I just finished a 2-year rotisserie restoration on this 22k original mile real “M-code” A12 Super Bee. The Bee came from the factory with R4 Bright Red paint, white vinyl top, white interior, white trunk stripe, console 4-speed, bucket seats and a factory a.m. 8-track player with 3-speaker dash!!! I have the original factory build sheet to the car and the original fender tag and both are fully decoded by Galen Govier. There are several documents, photos and a binder full of info that will go with the Bee.

All A12 package cars included the fresh air fiberglass lift-off hoods, Black H-code 15x6 steel wheels, Dana rear end with 4.10 posi diff., Three Holley 2-bbl carbs, Aluminum intake, Special 6-pack air cleaner, Goodyear Redline G70-15 polyglas tires, Special suspension, 26” radiator with maximum cooling package, 11” Manual drum brakes, Engine callout decals, 4 hood pins, Extra .224 spacer under the lower control arm bumpers for extra running clearance and some special 440 engine specifications!!!

There were only 826 A12 Super Bee hardtop 4-speeds ever made and to make this Bee extremely rare is the white interior, white vinyl top, white trunk stripe, console 4-speed and the a.m. 8-track player!!!

This “M-code” Super Bee has been completely rotisserie restored from top to bottom and being an original 22k mile car I was able to retain some of its original unrestored items! The A12 Bee is absolutely stunning and looks incredible! To find a real A12 Bee with this factory color combo and options like this is extremely hard to find let alone one restored to this calibur and become available to purchase. This very high end restoration includes many of the correct Lynch Road assembley plant factory paint and crayon markings as it left the assembly line, many of the correct factory nuts and bolts with the correct markings, date coded correct plug wires, heater hoses, fuel line, PCV hose and many of the factory correct part numbers! The motor, transmission, rear-end, front/rear suspension, K-member, engine bay, trunk, interior, gas tank, fuel lines, brake lines, and undercarriage have all been restored to a very high quality nut and bolt restoration. This awesome A12 Bee was just completed February 2020 and has only 8 miles on it just for testing and tuning. The Bee will also soon be registered on the A12 site with registration number and info (currently in process). A restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correct. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition A12 Super Bee!!!

PAINT AND BODY

The Super Bee is believed to be an original sheet metal car in excellent shape and the panels are very straight with excellent seams and panel fit. The super high-gloss urethane paint was just professionally wet sanded with 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit paper to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. This long process alone took over 50 hours and the finish shows it! When I purchased the Super Bee the body had been professionally painted 8 years ago and then sat in a climate controlled garage and was never taken any further. I painted the entire unercarriage in 2018 in the same urethane correct R4 red. If you think it looks good in the photos you need to see it in person! The paint in all the door jams, trunk, inner fenders and complete undercarriage looks fantastic. Even the front and rear wheel wells are painted and the insides of the front fenders are dusted in with black undercoat. I am very critical on paint and have been restoring Mopars for more than 30 years. The doors open and close excellent with the ease of a finger and even the door latches and strikers were cleaned and polished. The sequential body number is correct on the trunk lip and the radiator support is original but the very top bar beside the rad tank was cut and replaced many years ago most likely for easier engine changes so that number is different. The trunk lip sequential number verifies the body and matches the VIN tag, original fender tag and original build sheet. Please call me at 412-496-1439 and I will be happy to discuss all the details! Thanks!!!

GLASS, CHROME, TRIM AND EXTERIOR

The glass is in very good condition and all is all date code correct original with the exception to the front windshield which is brand new. The original Chrysler side and rear glass is in very nice condition and only has a few very minor scratches (see extra photos below). All windows and locks operate as should and line up very nice! The front bumper and rear bumpers, door handles and wing vent window frames are rechromed and look excellent. The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine. The original grill and rear tail panel trim piece were restored and look great. The beautiful new vinyl top is from Legendary Auto Interiors. The hood is an aftermarket one with the correct six pack decals and actually fits very well.

INTERIOR

The beautiful factory white interior is in excellent condition. It still has a near perfect original headliner and only has one small mark toward the rear. The door panel’s front and rear are the nicest original ones that I’ve ever seen and still have the factory ink stamps with dates on the insides. Some new interior items are the Legendary seat covers and seat foam, carpet, speaker shelf, arm rest pads, chrome arm rest bezels, trunk divider, sill plates, insulation, complete dash bezel set, antenna kit and restored 4-speed console. The perfect dash pad is original and the restored dash cluster has all its original gauges and speedometer. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. I just added a Tic Toc Tach minus the clock that is USA made by Charger Specialties. I restored the entire heater box with new seals, foam, cables and heater core. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers, map light, console lights and license plate light. The factory AM radio also works but I did not test the factory 8-track player. The E-brake, defrosters, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch work as should.

DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION

The strong running HP 440 6 pack makes excellent power and runs extremely well! The HP 440 is a correct year 1969 HP motor out of a GTX and was professionally rebuilt to stock specs. A detailed receipt is included from the machine shop. I also have detailed photos of all the numbers before I painted the engine. The 18 spline heavy duty A-833 4-speed transmission was also totally rebuilt with all parts from Brewers Performance. The 4-speed is a correct year 1969 and also is out of a GTX. The ID badge numbers on it are PP833 2648 0314. The Ram clutch kit is brand new (also from Brewers) and the 143 tooth flywheel was resurfaced. The 4-speed shifts excellent through all the gears and is a blast to drive! The original Hurst shifter was rebuilt by Brewers and the console shifter handle is original to the car. The original 4-speed console was restored and looks great! All the front/rear suspension parts are new or restored condition. The Dana 60 rear-end was also professionally restored and has the correct 4.10 gears with the sure grip. The HP 440 has a casting date of 8-1-68 and engine casting # is 2536430-9. The top flat ID badge numbers are E440 HP2 10 12 (1969 440) It is topped of with the original factory six pack aluminum intake (3412046), correct HP manifolds and has all 3 factory Holley carbs that were rebuilt and restored by Scott Smith from Harms Carb. The original six pack air cleaner is unrestored and original to the car!!! It’s probably the nicest unrestored one I’ve ever seen! I only use the Brad Penn High Performance oil, which was changed after the proper breakin period and is ready to go! It is one of the best oils on the market and already has the higher Zinc added in for older cars. Please look at the photos closely to see the amount of detail work, time and money that was spent to have a restoration done to this calibur!

I typically restore and finish around 8 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 30 years. I do every one as if it were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos.
