One of 400 Built by William P. Lear's SAMCO
This 1969 Samco Royale Convertible was built by William P. Lear, the same mind behind inventing the Lear Jet. He founded the Sports Automobile Manufacturing Company (SAMCO) to build 1937 Cord 810 Convertible reproduction automobiles, and just over 400 of these desirable automobiles were built over a three year period. The Previous owner enjoyed this car for many years before his battle with cancer ended. I purchased this beautiful car from his estate and hopefully to place into good hands.
This should be considered a PROJECT CARthat hold a clean California pink slip, registered, runs and drives well. You could make some minor repairs and drive as is or do a full on restoration to make a show car.
Body: Pretty straight body with only minor imperfections and sporting suicide doors. Paint has chipping around the door windows as well as the area between the front passenger fender and lower hood, also a bit on the nose of the car. Looks good from a few feet back but for a show car you'd want to repaint it.
Interior: Interior could be used as is with some cleaning however for a show car you'd want to restore the carpet seat covers and related parts. will need a small amount of tinkering. Some items like blinkers/turn signals, wipers, ect need some attention. Has functional power windows. Theswitches require some better mounting method.
Brakes and suspension: Suspension is all stock as well as the brakes. Car seems to stop well. Has manual drum brake, ford 9" rear (we believe), straight axle in front.
Engine and Trans: Engine and transmission are in running and operational status. Original Ford V-8 302 cid matched to Ford auto transmission.Car starts, goes in and out of gears and shifts well.Engine runs well but may need some fine tuning. Car sat for @ 8 years but started constantly.
Exhaust: Stock manifolds with dual exhaust running what looks to be glass pack mufflers to chrome tips. Not too loud and sounds healthy.
Wheels and Tires: Steel rims in driver condition but would need re chroming or replacing to be a show car.Tires are in fair shape having good tread however are a bit old.
Convertible Top: Does the job but the plastic widow is showing age as well as the material has some small stains. Should replace to be a show car.
Things to know: This is a running and driving project car that has been sitting and will need some work to work to be in great shape. Please ask questions if you have them.

May help with delivery for a small fee if located within 300 miles of San Jose Ca.
May be interested in some trades but prefer cash. I'm a Chevy guy so i'd look at Nova's Camaro', side by side like rhino, dune buggy, 30's hot rods, other projects, or?
