Car description

1969 Samco Cord restoration in process with newly rebuilt 302 Ford engine

Dick Clark Yellow Cord Replicar was a Glen Prey built original

Comparable examples selling for from $22,500 to as much as $77,000 [fully restored]

Gordon M. Buehrig designed the Cord 810/812 in 1936.

Glen Prey designed the Cord Replicar, the 8-10 scale, in 1966.

William P. Lear resurrected the Glen Prey Cord Replicar in 1968.

In the mid 30's, Gordon M. Buehrig designed an ageless prestigious automobile. It was unexcelled in style and performance .... the year was 1936, and the car was the first front wheel drive Cord, Model 810. In those days, the Cord owner drove his car with a pride of ownership apart from any other motorist.

More than seven decades have passed since the Cord 810 made its debut. Significant progress has been made in reliability and performance in all the intervening years which lie between today and the first Cord 810.

Now, applying the newer technology and the use of an outstanding design [Gordon Buehrig consulting], with the wheelbase scaled down to eight-tenths [8-10] the size of the original car, combined with years of progress in the industry, Glen Prey and then SAMCO [Sports Automobile Manufacturing Company] presented a car for a new millennium and a new generation of auto enthusiasts. No other car has ever captured the public awareness for esteem and prestige, both then [Cord 810] and now [SAMCO 8-10].

This vehicle was factory built in 1969. The SAMCO factory only built 430 cars of both models [Royale and Warrior] from 1967-70, so there are not many of these around. Already 49 years old & built by SAMCO in Oklahoma, which was originally owned by Glen Pray. This Model is the Warrior, AND it is not a kit car. One-piece body-with no seams anywhere. Loaded with goodies, like-a 220 horsepower 5.0 liter 302 V8 Ford Mustang engine- very peppy, and a C4 automatic transmission, power brakes, steering & windows, air conditioning, am/fm/stereo, heavy-thick suicide doors, boot for top, machined turned stainless steel dash, Cord front emblem, custom steering, with flip down top, side decorative exhaust pipes, whitewall tires, sun-visors, and reliable rear wheel drive, built on a 108 " wheelbase, weight 2900 pounds, very solid car that can be driven as a daily car & serviced at any Ford garage, parts are mostly Ford, so it's relatively easy & cheap to maintain.

If you don't recognize this car, don't feel bad because it's not one you are going to see every day! This particular car is a 1969 Samco Cord - Warrior Model.

These cars are welcome at the ACD meet in Auburn on Labor Day weekend, and even participate in the parade of Classics. It features the outside exhaust pipes, rear mounted spare, and wire wheels. Not many of these Replicas were made making them actually rarer than the originals.
