Farm fresh 73 newport.
Usually people do brakes, hoses, tune up, and all the little things which drives the price up with it. Not here. If you want to save a buck, and have the fun time of cleaning this girl up, have at it. I did put a fuel pump in it so it would drive, that is all. The ol guy put a small battery and some terminals in it before I got it.
Great drivetrain. 440, 727, and heavy duty 8 3/4. Too nice to part out though.
Here is the story. Found her sitting out under some trees in northern colorado. The old guy would start it and drive it around the property now and then, but his wife wouldn't let him take her down the road any more. It had a hard time starting on its own and staying running at first, but it was holding an idle after about 20 minutes. No smoke, no knocking. I headed out on an 8 mile journey home. It started running better and better as I went. If I gave it too much gas, it would fall on its face, as well as right after I turned a corner. About a mile away from home, it stopped running and wouldnt start. No fuel at all to the carb.
So, we put a fuel pump in it. now it will start, run, and drive. That is all i have done. It needs time, and lots of cleaning, more than money. It will clean up nicely, especially if you like the faded look.
It is clear that it will need to have the fuel tank dropped and cleaned out, the old fuel pump had lots of crap in it. Other little things I see... some of the lights are dim, will need to have connections and grounds cleaned in various places. Radio didn't come on, and some other stuff. It does need some fuses. Driver's window doesn't want to roll down.
All of this is the quick look over, I havent driven it for a long enough to get super familiar with it.
Engine- 440 runs good. no smoke or knocking. Tranny shifted fine. Exhaust sounded like it could use a muffler.Body- faded blue paint. white vinyl roof is cracked. Good news, no rust under cracked vinyl top. Trunk floor very good. Has fender rust at wheel opening corners.Trim- slight rusting on bumpers. Some stainless side trim has dings, but is all there.Interior- dash cracked. needs seat covers. door panels good except for rubber arm rest. cracked vertical interior trim passenger side of windshield.Tires- decent but kinda go thump thump from sitting. They would probably be ok and work out if they were driven regularly.clean colorado title
It will drive onto a trailer, which i would suggest. I would take it a little further than that, but please dont expect to get in it and drive it across the country.
You handle and plan shipping, and I will make it happen.
If paid, it can stay here up to 30 days.
500 deposit required in 48 hours, remainder within 7 days.
Please, dont bid if you cant pay within a week. Wanting a car and being able to pay for it are two different things. I know, I have been there.
