I have for sale here a 1963 Chrysler Newport 2-door Hardtop. This is an original-paint Colorado car. This car runs. drives and stops. but it has been sitting for a bit. so it could use a little TLC to be a trustworthy ride. However. at one point within the last year or so. this was someone's daily driver; when I received the car two months ago. the license plates were still current. In fact. quite a lot of time and money was poured into upgrading and maintaining the vehicle. and I have a large stack of receipts to show for it. An OEM 4-bbl manifold was blasted. painted and installed. an OEM Carter AFB was rebuilt and installed. a Pertronix ignition added. a new MSD coil. new plug wires. plugs. fuel tank boiled out. etc. The engine compartment is very tidy. Also underneath we find a new dual exhaust system. The car is hesitant to fire up in the cold (I can see that the choke is not closing properly). but once started and warmed up. it purrs at idle and revs cleanly with lots of power and no smoke. The engine is strong. The push-button transmission has a typical cable leak. but it functions well in all gears. The body is a solid Western body with original paint. It does have isolated rust issues in the fronts of the rear wheelwells. and down into the lower quarters behind the rocker area. There is one 2" x 2" square under the driver's left foot that is rusted. Otherwise you will find that the body is very. very solid - floors. doors. cowl. fenders. trunk floor. trunk dropoffs. etc. Yes. there are dents and dings about - consistent with a 52-year-old driver. Nothing much to bother with. but also nothing a competent body man could not easily handle. if fixing them is your desire. Almost everything electrical works. The wipers. the heater. signals. lights. horn. dome light. and the parking brake warning lamp. The radio does not. The brakes lack pedal feel. but they do stop the car. The booster seems to be the culprit. As a buyer I would address this right away. and from there you'd have a reliable. solid cruiser. The interior is really nice. The door panels are great. The dashboard is very nice other than the cracking pad. Headliner is good. Back seats are good but crumbling at the top. Unfortunately. the front seats are not original to the car. and covered with something lousy. but overall the interior is shockingly nice for an unrestored 52-year old car. To recap. this is a great car with a lot going for it. but here's what I can find that isn't so hot: Incorrect front seats Isolated rust around rear wheel wheels and rockers towards rearChoke needs adjustedBrake booster needs helpSpeedometer making buzzing noiseWindshield is cracked; all other glass good. Tires and wheels are ugly. stock steel wheels would look much better. Please look at all of the pictures of the car before buying! For 91 pictures of the car. CLICK HERE.
