1968 Chevy MalibuPro Touring/RestomodSurvivor paint and bodyNo rust repairs, No patch panels, Solid GM BodyLS Drivetrain 6.0 Mast TunedOriginal paperwork and documents from original sale
This is the opportunity of a lifetime to purchase a car that has got to be the most solid bodied car I've ever seen. This car was sold in Tulsa and just now left home some 49 years later. You've heard the story of the little old lady and her car she just drove to church and the grocery store, well this is that car and it is legit. In over 20 years of working on old cars I've never seen or owned a car that is this solid, when I say survivor and rust free I mean it is solid. You really have to see it to believe it, other that a hand full of minor pits under the rear window trim there is no rust or evidence of rust repair on the car. A true time capsule, even the windshield is original but it has no chips, scratches, or damage. It and all the other glass is slick and look new, except they have the original GM markings on them. They do have tint on them but otherwise are original. The stainless and trim on the car are near perfect, no dents, dings, scratches or anything. The windows and vent windows roll up and down perfectly, minimal effort and seal up great. The doors have a solid thud to them when you shut them as do the trunk and hood. From what I've been told, this was a one owner car up until a few years ago when a guy in the Tulsa area uncovered it in a garage, with its original 85K miles on the odometer you have to look twice at the dash and gauges because they all look restored. However, the interior, other than the carpet and some front seat cover work is all original. The guy that lucked into finding this car had a plan to make this into the ultimate sleeper and pro touring car. He sourced a 25K mile 6.0L LS engine and had an LS3 SS cam in it, no other mods in this LY6 engine. This is the sought after square port head engine that came in Escalades and other big vehicles, the horsepower is estimated at 450HP. It idles smooth and has a tuneup in it that you'd swear was from GM. It is controlled my a Mast Performance stand alone computer, it has a perfect tuneup in it, it starts perfectly in any weather and idles perfectly, it has great power and accelerates like a modern hot rod. The underside is where the build gets interesting, all new running gear makes this thing ride like a 2017 Camaro, from the Corvette front spindles to the Bilstein shocks, tubular control arms, Moser Muscle Pack 12 bolt rearend, Baer power brakes that stop on a dime, Ricks Hot Rod stainless tank with internal pump, and Tremec 5 Speed TKO transmission. You really don't think you are driving a 49 year old car, but you get all the looks that go with a car like this. The car has so many cool features that are original or dealer add on. One feature is the lights on the dash, a chrome bezel with 3 lights in it, all of them work perfectly, one is on with headlights, one blinks with the turn signals, and the 3rd comes on with the highbeam lights. A 25.00 dealer add on that is present on the dealer paperwork that comes with the car. I've got all original sales documents, protecto plate, owners manual, sales flyers, and many service records right up into the 1980's when the car was parked. The car also has a new Gen IV Vintage Air system that works perfectly, you can set the temp and it holds it for you perfectly. The car runs a perfect 185 degrees all the time thanks to a big Griffin aluminum radiator with dual fans. Again, it is hard to put a price on this car because there just aren't any to compare it to, a true survivor with modern drivetrain. Most of these cars are packed full of bondo and have a slick paint job on them, this car separates itself from those and the original Grecian Green Metallic is a super cool color that even today looks great. I do have the car for sale locally so if you are a serious buyer please contact me, the car is available for inspection or a test drive and I highly recommend an inspection on a big purchase like this. My direct number is 469-387-9796, I am a Texas dealer so we will need to transfer the title to you unless you are an out of state buyer in which case we can just do some paperwork and I'll mail you the title.
Body:All original, great gaps, perfect function of all doors, trunk, hood, windows, all lights work as they should. Factory paint with a coat of clear to protect it. The body does have minor dings like a 49 year old car would, it is not a perfectly straight show car so don't expect that. It is a survivor paint job with the chips and dings that go with that type of finish. The body has not been restored.
Engine:6.0L GM engine with approximately 30,000 miles, the only upgrade is the camshaft and it is a GM LS3 Camaro SS cam, it doesn't have a lope to it, it is pretty smooth. The exhaust system starts through Edelbrock coated headers and then goes into a 3" Flowmaster system that runs out the back. It sounds great. The radiator is a Griffin with dual fans, runs 185 degrees. Pulley system is complete with power steering, AC, alternator and all necessary accesories, it is a serpentine system. The engine is controlled my a Mast Performance computer and it is tuned to perfection. The air cleaner is a hand built aluminum unit that fits and looks great.
Transmission:Tremec Manual 5 Speed TKO 500 with stock bell housing and a nice smooth clutch, easy engagement, not too much pedal effort. The driveshaft is a 1500 dollar unit that is carbon fiber and features a constant velocity joint at the front so that pinion angle worries are a thing of the past. This car is as smooth at 90 mph as it is at 20.
Rearend:Moser Muscle pack 12 bolt with a Clutchless posi, wavetrac design with big Moser axles, a girdle on the back, billet yoke, all new bolt in rearend.
Fuel system:Ricks Hot Rod stainless tanks with internal pump and sending unit, works perfectly, return style regulator/filter with both braided and stainless steel lines.
Suspension:Corvette aluminum front spindles with tubular control arms throughout, Currietrac rears with swivel joints to prevent binding when the car corners. Adjustable front control arms, Bilstein shocks, lowering springs, big sway bars.
Brakes:Baer 4 piston drilled and slotted rotors, power brakes, work perfect, easy to push and stops on a dime.
Interior:Nearly perfect, gauges work and look new but are original, dash is great, AM radio is factory and works great, Vintage Air Gen IV, works perfectly, bench seat, interior is near flawless, original door panels with little to no wear.
Bid with confidence, ask questions, make offers, you will probably never have the chance to buy a car like this ever again.
