This was long project for me, and though I loved every moment of it (from hunting, buying, sourcing parts, building, enjoying, and now selling), it's time that it goes to someone who can enjoy her more than I can. I have too many cars and this car needs a proper driver (preferably with a family because this thing can carry so many people/things).
This is my 1989 BMW 320i that I had purchased out of Europe. This was exceptionally hard to do because of how many cars rust in Europe. This is NOT one of those rusty cars. In fact, that's why I bought it - because it had absolutely no rust. In fact, the paint is largely original which was such an important factor when purchasing.
When it got to my warehouse in California, I planned to build it at CaTuned with the owner Igor. He knows his e30 platform inside and out, and was the right man for this build. The build took a better part of a year and we had gone through the ENTIRE CAR. Freshly built S52B32/5-speed, custom CaTuned Coilovers, every bushing was replaced, every suspension and steering item serviced, and any aesthetic part that looked worn or tired, I had replaced with new or perfect used.
This was a no-expense spared build. I even bought the last new catalytic converter in the world just to make sure this build was done correctly and would pass the California Bureau of Automotive Repair rigorous testing to receive a new VIN and proper smog-able system for future California drivers. Because this car is BAR'd, it means it's legal in not only the US, but California. This is a huge deal for anyone in California. I believe that this is the only touring e30 with s52 that is California-legal, in the world, and it took a lot to get it here.
I have receipts for everything, but to be perfectly frank, Igor of CaTuned knows more about this car than I do. He's gone through everything and knows it's intimate details much better than myself. Please call him at his shop line that you can find on google or instagram.
As for driving experience, you MUST drive to appreciate. You get E46 M3 power out of this touring/wagon and with the bigger brakes and coilover suspension, not only is the car completely compliant and a happy daily driver, but you can go seriously fast around corners with complete confidence and control. I am very impressed with how the suspension is set up on this car. I'm impressed with the entire car if I think about it.
I wish I could list all of it's upgrades/replacement parts, but I do not thing I would remember them all. What I will say though is that everything on this car (aside from the wheels) was carefully planned and thought out to work well with each other. There is nothing tacky or tasteless on this car (again, aside from the wheels), and I am extremely proud of how well this car works. No noises, no questionable smells, just a strong, precision-built touring e30. It was built to drive - and fast.
