Car description |
---|
Here I have a 1974 Volvo 142 GL. Very Good Shape. Very presentable.
These cars are getting harder and harder to find in good shape.
It came from North Carolina and had minimal to no rust. I bought this car in 2004 and spent the following two years restoring it. Pretty much everything was replaced, even the front windshield.
Garage kept since I had it.
It came with a factory sun roof, very rare for the Volvo 140s.
Power brakes, power steering.
It currently has a Volvo B20 engine that has been bored to 2130cc with the IPD torque cam. The engine probably has maybe 20K miles on it. Maybe if that. Weber downdraft carburetor. M41 transmission. Just recently done all fluid changes with new hoses and belts.
Drive shaft u-joints and center carrier bearing replaced.
All ball joints, bearings, bushings replaced. The car was dropped approximately 2” by using VPD’s springs. It has Bilsteins HD shocks and custom made 17” x 7” wheels.( Not cheap)
IPD front & rear swaybars. The car handles great with this setup.
It has vented front brakes as used on the Volvo 164.
The rear end has a positraction DANA/Spicer Power-lok unit. Again, rare option.
It has a Draw-tite trailer hitch and Air Lift air bags inside rear coil springs.
The front end has been changed to look more like a ’71-’72 140. I just liked it better. It still uses the big rear bumper.
Optima Battery relocated to trunk.
The car was repainted in its original Volvo color.
Windows are tinted.
The rear wing is actually from one of the Volvo GrpA 240s that were raced in the early 80’s. Very rare.
The seats and panels are all original out of a 1977 Volvo 242GT.
I found a 240 GT gauge cluster on eBay and custom installed it to the dashboard that was taken from a 1984 240. The headliner also came out of the 1984 car.
Initially I built this car with a Volvo B20 turbo motor with aftermarket electronic fuel injection and a T5 Mustang transmission. To sell, I took out the turbo motor and transmission and put in the B20 motor I had on my P1800 with a M41 transmission I had laying around. The aftermarket fuel injection system was taken out and a Weber downdraft carburetor with electric choke was installed. The car runs and drives, but not as good as I want. When the car is cold, the car does stall when stopped, but starts every time. When the engine warms up, no issues. I have driven around town and on the highway with no issues. I just don’t have the time to make it perfect. I would say that the car might have a total of 20,000 miles since I had it refurbished. Total mileage of vehicle unknown.
I am selling it because I just don’t use it anymore and looking to downsize my Volvo collection.
I have collected several other Volvo 140 parts, i.e. hood, door, fenders, door panels, fiberglass trunk, that would like to get rid of. If the car meets the reserve, you can have those parts as well.
No help needing in selling it. Selling car as-is, with no warranty. Please, serious buyers only.
Winner bidder please pay $500 nonrefundable deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Not more. The remaining balance to be paid in cash upon vehicle pickup. Please plan to pickup vehicle within two weeks if possible. If these conditions cannot be met, please let me know in advance and we can work something out. I am a reasonable person.
