Car description

1993 was the final model year for the iconic Volvo 240 wagon. The mainstay of the Volvo lineup through the 70's & 80's, this car was offer from 1975-1993 with only modest changes over the years and over 2.8 million built. The 240 is a fairly simple machine that is reliable, durable and serviceable. They are also spacious, comfortable and have an excellent reputation for safety. This example is a clean, low mileage, mostly original car. It runs and drives as it should and everything works.
While it's normally pretty fun to sell an old Volvo wagon, this one is different. It has been an awesome driver for the last 5 years and it will be sad to see it go. We know we won't ever have another 240 so nice. We are slowly updating the transportation fleet, and despite being one of our best, the 240 is among the oldest. It doesn't get driven that much anymore, so it's probably time to find it a long term home while it's still in such good condition. Since 2013, this Volvo has primarily been used for travel, typically about 1,200 miles at a time to and from Florida which accounts for a large portion of the mileage since 2013, roughly 5,800 per year. It has been a very reliable vehicle. Typically we mention all of the service done in preparation for sale, but in this case, since it's been our car it was already pretty current. The preparation included fresh tires, a new rear washer nozzle, state inspection and final cleanup. We thoroughly checked the car over including removing the cover to inspect the timing belt for wear. In addition to the Carfax, we do have records from the previous owners, as well as 4 original keys and the owner's books.
This Volvo has been in the South and has no rust. There is an accident showing on the Carfax. This occurred before we owned the car but is not something we are concerned about as it was likely very minor. It is an original and complete car with these exceptions: The second owner had a third seat installed. A later owner had it taken back out; We replaced the carpet mats with the all weather trays; the tape player failed on the original radio (still present) which was replaced with a modern unit with CD and aux input; We installed the trailer hitch, taken from another 240. Condition problems we are disclosing: the driver seat has some minor wear; there is a tiny tear in the passenger seat; the door map pockets shattered and were removed; the center console is currently broken; the carpet is very dry; the dash has just started to deform - it's definitely a car that has been exposed to more heat than cold.
We will answer any and all questions about this 240 and hope to meet only buyers who want the opportunity to get a really nice example. More photos and the Carfax report can be found on our website.
