Car description

Offered for sale is a 1967 VOLVO P130 AMAZON with only 61,757 miles. Color is midnight blue with burgundy interior. The transmission is a BW35. Of all the AMAZON sedans that VOLVO produced, the 1967 series is considered the best year for several reasons. The intake and exhaust manifolds, in conjunction with the "3 Bolt" SUs, is by far the best set up. The rear suspension and rear axle assembly is the best of all the years and far superior to any of the pre-1967 models. Compared to the 1967 models, the earlier cars have a weaker rear end and suspension. The rear brakes of the 1968 models are very inferior to the earlier models. The rest of the car is similar to all of the years except for the 1968 series which have many Federal requirements which I feel take away from the overall appearance of the cars. This car is in exceptional (mostly) original condition and is a "turn key" car that can be driven anywhere. I own an operate Carriage Motors of Wiscasset, Maine and I have performed all the maintenance on this car since it had only 5,800 miles. Servicing and restoring VOLVO AMAZONs for over 46 years, I refer to this car as a "rust free" car that is one of the finest examples that I have seen. It most certainly is the most rust free 122 that I have seen and I have seen thousands and thousands of them. With the car goes all the paper work and service records. The car has been repainted a long time ago and could stand some touching up in some small areas. The paint would look good if the car was buffed/polished. The interior is 100% original except for the upright section of the rear seat. It was redone with a VOLVO OEM cover. Otherwise, everything is original which is very rare. There are no cuts, rips or tears in any of the seats. The lower cushions on the fronts are beginning to come apart at the stitching. What I would do/should be done is the remove both covers and have an upholstery shop or anyone restitch them on the backside and re-install them like a pillow case. Structurally the seats are in fine condition and all of the lower "PIRELLI" webbing has been replace with PIRELLI webbing. Clean the seats and maybe put on some "good" fabric dye and they would look real nice. Anybody can pick up a phone and order new seat covers but it is very difficult and rare to come by original stuff. Myself I would do nothing to the interior except maybe??? replace the dash. I would clean it up and darken the places where someone put some sort of sealer that turned sort of a white color. The rest of the dash pad is good. The instrument cluster assembly is "perfect" as per photo. The surface coating is perfect. That in itself is very, very, very rare. I have never seen a dash instrument cluster in this fine a condition. Mechanically the car is perfect and always has been properly maintained. With in the past 5,000 miles the servicing includes new exhaust system, new tires, new brakes, servicing of the BW35(new seals, pan gasket and kick-down cable), servicing of the drive-shaft, re-built SUs, new battery (DEKA), generator brushes, all fluids and a complete tune-up. This is several thousands of dollars of recent servicing. The car's drivetrain performs perfectly. You could leave my shop in Maine and drive to California and you would not need to do a thing except add gas and maybe check your engine oil. I believe that is worth a lot. I concentrated the pictures on the floors and the trunk area to give you an idea of how rust free the car is. All the paint on the floors and trunk area is original. A car can be restored again and again but is original only once. Any questions call 2078825033 daytime EDST.
