Car description |

Exceptionally solid driving 1971 Volvo 1800E
Restoration started years ago and then stalled. Primer spots here and there; very minor rust in a couple of places. Needs battery box replaced as almost all these cars do. Side trim holes have been filled. Side trim is not included with the car, but correct reproduction stainless trim is available from VP-Autoparts and others for a price about equal to straightening the original trim. Or, I can provide dinged used trim with the car.
Drive train is very solid with major tune up a couple of years ago and new fuel pump last week. Tech who worked on it said it was best running 1800E he had driven at that time.
Unmolested car with bumpers and grill removed but included in the trunk. Pieces are driver quality used.
Interior is unmolested with very rare uncut dash with original Volvo radio. Almost all of these cars have had the dash destroyed by installing later model bigger radios.
Seats are not original but fit car well and fell better than the originals.
Tires are older NOS on updated correct wheels with decent stainless trim rings ($100 each, new)
. Car is long term western car which means rubber and upholstery are dry rotted, BUT overall body condition is very good. Remember this is a 44+ year old car which was driven regularly. It can be driven as is, or with paint and interior it will be a very nice car to drive or show
Value on these cars is climbing with documented sales of the ES wagon version as high as $92,000 and restored coupe sales in the $65,000 range for highly original low mile or restored cars.
The 1800E car like this one is by far the best driving 1800 there is IF the fuel injection is working correctly and the car is solid. This coupe is one of those cars. What it lacks in cosmetics it more than makes up for in a solid drive train and basic sheet metal.
As with all old cars, maintenance will always be required, and it is not perfect
