Vintage VOLO lovers BEHOLD!!!!!!
a truly lovely VOLVO 240 Wagon, loved and used and still running strong. Just under 180k original miles, maintenance always and only performed by volvo tech in lake bluff IL (a seasoned vet mechanic who exclusively operates on these old 240s.
THE GOOD: interior upholstery for the vehicles age is in remarkable shape. very little wear and fade...no tears or noticeable stains. All other associated upholstered trim bears similar condition. Photos show car after one nice vac. Exhaust system replaced from manifold back to tip and muffler with OEM parts. Newer tires as well (less than 8k miles on exhaust and tires) Brakes have 10k left on pads.
THE BAD: not much...AC does not work. Dent from target shopping cart on driver side fender (see photo) paint not damaged (fender panel was pressed in slightly)
MISC NOTES: Heat works well. Heater bearing is humming a bit during warm up but working well (has been humming for past 3 years.) I assumed i would replace this with the AC but my driving of this car has been limited as we have a new wagon now. Quoted 800 for the new AC/compressor parts and heater bearing if interested in repair. All blower works fine, vaccum switches all work.Missing rear driver side and passenger side speaker covers (can see the paper cones in photos)Missing driver door map pocket (readily available in blue online)Cracked headliner (expected)Paint: car was repainted from blue to gray. paint is is great shape but has flaked in (2) areas. (tailgate below the handle and rain gutters at the crook of the silver raingutter you can see some blue) roughly a 12" section on drivers side 1/4" high. The paint is not peeling, however, best guess is the dirt in rain gutter pulled off a some of this paint. Slight spidering of the black glare tape below the exterior windows. No real rust...very small amount on lower wheel well at rear wheels...door sills all in great shape.Rear bench seat release slightly stubborn...may require some grease or new cable at some point...works but needs a strong hand to engage the release.
