Up for sale is this wonderful 1972 Volvo P1800ES sports wagon.I recently purchased it from the second owner and love this car, ut have found a house I would like to buy and am trying to raise some cash. This car was sold new in Phoenix, Z and has never left Phoenix over the 42 years since it was sold new.The first owner kept the Volvo for 25 years and the second owner for 17 years before selling it to me.I doubt there are many original P1800s anywhere as dry and rust-free as this one.Last year the previous owner swapped the engine and transmission from a 1972 ES that had only 50k original miles. He found that car in rusted condition in Northern Arizona and he parted it out. So the drive train in my car has around 50K original miles on it, t runs great and there's no issues and no leaks. The P1800 has roughly 150k original miles which is still low for one of these. It runs and drives great. The interior is mostly original and in great condition. The body is super nice. It could be a great daily driver the way it is.The previous 2 owners really took good care of this car and I have not seen an original P1800 of this quality in a very long time, f ever. Because it is a dry Arizona car the typical rust issues these cars have are not present. The only "rust" I found was a couple of very very small bubbles under the paint in the right rear lower corner and I have included pictures. The rocker panels, loor, oors, enders, pare tire area, tc are bone DRY and rust free!If you want a show winner, his is the car to start with, o rust repair needed if you want to repaint the car and make it perfect!!! It will save tons of money and time and the end result will be so much better than starting with a rusted P1800.The Volvo has been repainted once and although it is an older paint job it is still presentable and could be driven as is. There is some heavy lacquer cracking in the paint on the upper left quarter panel and in the rear of the car, nd a small linear (bumper shaped) dent under the left tail light which makes me believe there has been a later repair done in this area (I have tried to capture these in photos).I would not hesitate to drive this car exactly the way it is for a very long time and I am not aware of any reason you could not fly in and drive the Volvo clear acrossthe US.All the glass is good. The chrome is super nice Arizona chrome, o pitting, ery shiny. The grille insert is perfect. Overall the exterior of the car is super super good for an un-restored car.The interior is mostly original and in great condition. I had the front seats done recently and it was a very high quality job. The dash has been covered for decades which saved it from the brutal AZ sun.The car has been garaged all it's life and that also helped protect the interior from the Arizona sun.The door panels, eadliner, nd carpet are original and in great condition. The carpet in the rear cargo area was taken out because of stains and black carpet has been laid in. It should get new carpet in the rear.Overall the interior is in great conditionThe car has the original spare and tools. All the gauges work. The original clock does not work but there is another clockincluded with the ton of spare parts that go with the car (don't know if it works). The previous owner installed heat shield almost everywhere in the car including; under the carpet, nside firewall under the dash, pare tire area, nder the hood and engine compartment, nd even under the car in a couple of places.Mechanically the car is superb.Last year the engine and transmission came out of a car with only 50,000 original miles! There are no leaks anywhere. It runs and drives great.Theauxiliaryair valve which helps with cold starts has been bypassed by the previous owner so it takes a few minutes to warm up then runs perfectly (cold starts are not really a problem here in the desert). I will have my mechanics hook it back up during the auction to see it is functional or needs to be replaced. All fuel hoses are new. The fuel pump and filter have been replaced recently. The P1800 runs like a very low mileage car.The P1800 is a factory AC car,the compressor was not installed during the engine swap but it is included so it can easily be installed again. There are IPD sway-bars installed front and rear, great upgrade.Good exhaust. The tires are brand new and installed on nice chrome Volvo rims. The electronic overdrive works perfectly. All lights work and it has the nice flat Hella headlights installed. The Volvo is a blast to drive and the stiffer sway bars makes it even funner to drive! The car comes with a large crate full of new, sed, nd some NOS parts.Included are items like; distributors, uel pumps, luidreservoirs, new fan clutch, an blades, njectors, new master cylinder, an motors, isc interior parts. Lots of great parts. Also included are; several large service manuals, ooks on Volvos and P1800s, agazines, nd even the January 1973 issue of Penthouse with an article on the P1800.The car also has the accessory Volvo spare tire fuel can, rare and nice item. The original owner's manual and I.D. card are also present.A ton of extras go with this one. There are not many un-restored 2 owner Volvo 1800 wagons as nice and rust-free as this one anywhere. This truly is a rare find.If I didn't need money to purchase a house I would not be selling it. You can get in and drive it anywhere as it is.Low mileage with an even lower mileage drive-train.THE BUYER OF THIS P1800ES IS GETTING A GEM!!!!!The car is located in Phoenix, Z 85009. It comes with a clean and clear Arizona title.I require a deposit of $1000 within 48 hours of the end of auction. The remainder is due within seven days. Please ask questions before bidding!I may be able to help with arranging transport within the US and Iwill sell and ship to anywhere in the world. We load containers headed to Sweden at my work every month so I can help with shipping to Scandinavia.I welcome all questions, o please don'thesitateto ask them. I welcomeinspection of the Volvo during the auction, lease contact me to schedule a viewing. And I can store the car for areasonabletime after the auction if needed. On Aug-02-15 at 13:36:56 PDT, eller added the following information:
