Car description |

Up for sale is my 1960 Karmann Ghia Convertible. This Ghia was purchased new in Georgia in 1960 and was passed to its second owner in the early 60's. The car was driven sparingly and was parked in a barn on stands in 1977. I was able to purchase the vehicle several months ago and pull it from storage.
There are receipts in the car from themid 60's where it had 50XXX miles, and it now shows 70,400 miles. I believe this to be correct. The second owner had the engine professionally rebuilt not long before it was stored and it is believable under close inspection.
This Ghia is completely original with the exception of one exterior repaint. There is no evidence of any accident damage whatsoever. All body panels line up perfectly and the doors open and shut nicely with no sagging.
The interior wears its original upholstery throughout. There are no rips in the seats. Everything could use a good cleaning, but nothing has been touched- internally or externally. The original top operates as it should, however the materialhas of course seen better days.
As you can see in the pics, the only rust is a small spot in the passengers floor board - about the size of ahalf dollar. Personally, if I weren't going to restore the car to a high level, i wouldn't even touch it. The heater channels and everything else (even under the battery) is solid.
After taking ownership, I soaked the cylinders with mystery oil for a few weeks. I then changed the oil, did a compression test, replaced the plugs, rebuilt the fuel pump and carburetor. With a new battery and external fuel source, the car ran perfectly. I then replaced the tank, fuel sender, fuel tap, and hoses. The braking system was also completely replaced while retaining the original parts.
Today she cranks, runs and drives excellent. With a new set of tires, I would trust the car anywhere. The headlights, parking lights, gas gauge, speedo andtail lights all work.
The wiring and electrical system is intact and in good shape. Nothing on the car has been altered.
This car in this condition is almost one of a kind. To be able to purchase the car, I had to step up to the plate. In hopes that I am not the only one who sees it this way, I have decided to do a NO RESERVE auction!!!!
I have advertised this car locally, so, I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. International bidders are welcome!
If you have less than +5 feedback, contact me before bidding or your bid will be cancelled.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please ask. I have a clean and clear title in hand.
Thanks!
