Began 8 years ago.Got VW for $3500,Fuchs wheels,tires for $1500,Controller,charger,motor for $2500.All new interior package was $1000.Thousands in additional parts still to be installed.My cost is over $12,000 and unknown amounts of my time.Installed the controller,motor,transmission adapter,batteries and used the VW in testing for a few months and 30 miles.Spent the next two years restoring most everything.Front brakes are converted to disk, new rear brakes,tie rods,bushings,heavyduty shocks,springs,struts,body pans,virtually everything.Needs batteries(9 8V lead acid),windshield,rear apron,paint job and a lot of your time.Doors,hood and windows not mounted.Work in progress!This is not a project for the faint of heart.Expect another half year or more of work before the VW is back on the road.Speed limited to 45-50mph and range is maximum of 40 miles.Message me with questions or email me at mferan@yahoo.com More photos at s1253.photobucket.com/user/mferan/slideshow/
