This is your chance to finish an easy project. We just had a newborn baby, and there is no time for me to complete the interior. I have spent $7500 in the past two years on the paint, engine work, brakes, suspension, and tires. This is a $30k bus when complete and the hard work has been fun, with only the fun interior left to do.
I bought this bus in 2011 from a Navy guy who brought it from California to Virginia. It is super dry and rust-free. Over the past couple of years I had it painted (no body work needed), and started to refurbish a complete and clean Westfalia interior. The Riviera Pop-Top is in decent shape, but will need restitching at a couple of spots.
The engine has been gone over by a trusted air-cooled VW mechanic with lots of new parts ($3100 of work in 2017), as well as the brakes and other running gear. The suspension is brand new "Dump my Bay" full lowering kit ($1300 plus $500 install) from vintage-vdubs.com. It is lowered now, but fully adjustable if you wish to return it to a factory height.
There are 5 brand new Yokohama S-Drive 185/55r15 tires mounted to the factory rims, and includes the spare that mounts to the front.
Please note: While it was at the shop, an unknown driver backed into the spare tire. Please see photo of damage. It is not a major repair.
Please contact me if you would like to see any additional photos, or to schedule a viewing. It is located in Newport News VA.
I am happy to help coordinate shipping via car carrier or oversees via Port of Norfolk, VA.
Thank you.
