For sale: 1972 Volkswagen Beetle. (Regular Beetle) --Wonderful & sharp looking Bug!
We are selling because my wife is 26 weeks pregnant. We are excited, newlyweds and expecting our first child- so unfortunately, the Beetle has to go.
I am listing this car with NO RESERVE, in my opinion; it is worth much more than the starting asking price. Very fun car to drive around this summer! Someone will be very pleased. The car has too much to list, but I will do my best to describe it to the best of my ability; as I try to always be honest, and list it as if I was buying it what I would want to know to as well!
First and foremost - Please, keep in mind; this is a 45-year-old classic car. It is not a new car and it drives like a vintage classic collectible car. Also, please keep in mind - pictures always look better than in person. I am not trying to advertise a perfect car here. It is not perfect, or anywhere near perfect, as if it was it would be a $35,000 Beetle! But it is a nice ride. You are more than welcome to see the car before the end of the auction if you wish to. I just washed the car before I took these photos. Also, with that note please remember - these old VW's are toys. I would not suggest someone buying this for his or her 16-year-old daughter as a first car because it's "cute" ...It's a vintage car. It requires maintenance like any other 45-year-old car. This has not had any full restoration to my knowledge; just kept up over the years and it is just a good running driver!
Positives:
-Very nice dealer accessory Riveria wheels with newer tires
-Newer interior, including seats & carpet kit
-Brand new gas tank & fuel lines
-Brand new performance distributor
-Brand new fuel pump
-Tires are excellent and like new
-Recently rebuilt carburetor
-I was told the motor had a rebuild a few years back. It runs very well, does not smoke.
-Oil change and valves were just adjusted.
-Clear SC Title
Negatives:
-Things that do not work to my knowledge: 1.) Radio - it isn't hooked up (just sitting in place) and 2.) The horn does not work.
-There are some small rust areas around the floors where the battery tray is, this is very common. A few areas have been patched, but there is a dime size hole I found by the battery and a few small spots. I have more photos upon request if needed!
-Drips a little oil around right side valve gasket. (common)
-There are two ignitions. Either work, a push button starter (with the key on) starts the car, along with the key switch alone starts the car.
-I bought this car the way it is. I think at one point this car was in an accident, because it does show that there is some damage to the front, which was beat out and repaired before it was painted along with some bondo up by the gas tank and some repair done in the front trunk area. (But keep in mind- the car has a clear title, not a salvage, so I can't imagine it was ever in a bad wreck) but I was not there before or after the fixing process to tell you what was or was not fixed or needed to be! I do not know how many original owners this vehicle has had.
-Older paint job. Still looks nice 20' away! But the closer you get, the more clear imperfections get, some bondo cracking, some fading areas. Not a bad overall older paint job, but it's not new by any means either, My advise... Don't expect anything perfect and you will fall in love. :)
*This is a 45 year old, VINTAGE VW "TOY". It is NOT a perfect car/Not a $35,000 restoration. It is however a GOOD Bug and will treat you right, if you maintain it and keep it serviced. Very easy to work on, but these vintage cars require tinkering. Mileage reads 83,643. No telling if it is original. VW's have a 5-digit speedometer that rolls over after 100,000.
*If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. More photos are available upon request. The CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AS WELL, therefore- the seller has right to end listing early if car sells before end of auction. There is NO RESERVE! Please do not bid unless you intend to buy! My starting price is listed much lower than what I have the car for sale locally at.
*A $200 non-refundable deposit is due by paypal within 48 hours of the auction ending, unless agreed upon otherwise after the sale. Remainder is due within 7 (SEVEN) days of auction closure. Pickup due within 7 (SEVEN) days as well, unless other-wiseddiscussed, or shipping. Payment only accepted as cash in person. No warranties. It is fully the buyers responsibility to arrange shipping if needed (lower 48 states only) If you are shipping the car, a certified bank check/money order is fine- but it can take 7-10 business days to clear, before car leaves possession.
Car is located in Graniteville, SC 29829. Further, I can be reached at 803-393-9550. Many blessings and best of luck bidding!
