Car description

**PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE AD LISTING PAGE TO VIEW A COMPLETE SET OF DETAILED PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE**Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent and attractive rare factory black/red TR3A Roadster. Only about 3-4% of the original cars left the factory in black paint, a desirable and special color that suits a sidescreen TR very well. This car was recently purchased from it's 80+ year old owner who cherished this car for most of his later years. His story is that he purchased this special car from his best friend, the car's original owner, after badgering him for many years to sell it to him !The body on this car appears to be quite good with normal gaps to the hood, trunk, and doors. The car has a very original feel to it, but looks like its had a simple respray at one point in the original black color. The paint appears to be older with plenty of touched up chips, a few dings, some checking on some panels, notably the nose and trunk lid. It looks very good overall when you stand back from 10 feet. The car's chromework is average to good. There is a small stone chip in the middle of the windshield.Although older, the car's interior is quite attractive and in good condition. It has just been fitted with a new, quality, Moss carpet kit. The seats are in great shape and are comfortable with good support. All of the gauges function correctly, even the rare original temperature gauge. The car's engine starts easily on the key with little smoke, good oil pressure (running hot, 50-70psi. Hot idle 35psi). The car smoked a little gray on initial start up, after it's 16 year hibernation, but is slowly reducing each time it is being driven. We've performed an oil change to quality Castrol 20w/50 which has also helped out considerably. The car's hydraulics are fine with a very good clutch and positive brakes. The car runs strong and drives well with a nice, easy-shifting transmission and seems nicely settled in after a warm up. The steering feels typical TR3, with some "graunch" at low speed. The tires appear in good shape with nice tread. The engine compartment appears very original. The car's underside and chassis looks normal and fairly typical for a car of this age in California. The car is supplied with full weather equipment including a newer soft top, tonneau cover, top boot, and original sidecurtain set. A newer set of CA license plates are provided along with the re-issued title, but the car still retains It's original black one with tags from 2001.Overall, a fairly honest and attractive California TR3A driver in great original colors. This car runs and drives fine as is, but could use a general service/lookover. It should be enjoyed and preserved in it's current condition, with a wonderful original look and feel about it.
