Car description |
---|
Spectacular Toyota FJ40 from 1974, well stored for 20 years. The first owner was a Japanese lady who imported it to Colombia and had it for around 20 years. The second owner had it for around 22 years but he had an accident (not in the car) that didn’t allow him to use the car and therefore had it in storage (well-stored) for almost 20 years. I found this priceless gem, with absolutely zero rust, no accidents, very original and in need of little TLC.
On the mechanical side I had the carburetor redone, new clutch installed, completely new electrical wiring, and the car is running as strong as it should. The engine is the original F motor with matching numbers and has the original 3-gear gearbox functioning smoothly. 4x4 and low gear work perfectly, off-course.
I added a new coat of paint (barely needed it) and replaced the old turn signals and side-view mirrors, it had the correct ones installed but were just too faded. The 1974 model is the first year with rectangular stop-lights vs round version in previous versions (some people believe this model should have round stop lights but this is true only for early months in 74'…). The front seats and jump-seats are the original and are in excellent condition as well as the pristine soft-top. The dashboard has all the original buttons and everything is working properly. There is one extra button with all the wiring ready to install fog-lamps (just plug and play).
I am trying to represent the vehicle as close to reality as possible. The car is sold as is and there are no expressed or implied warranties. To mention a few easy-to-fix issues (I just don’t have the time to make it to 100% but it is very very close): choke cable is not connected (however the car starts easily without it), the gas level gauge is not showing gas level correctly (was working a few weeks ago, must be a simple sender solution) and the Toyota era radio is not connected (no speakers nor antenna, and I don’t know if the radio actually works).
Notice to Bidders: vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early. Price does not include title, license, registration fees, state or local taxes or processing fees, if any. Given it's a 44 year old car, mileage reads exempt.
Deposit: I require a non-refundable $500 deposit within 48 hours of winning the auction via PayPal. Please contact me to make arrangements for full payment.
Shipping: if the buyer is in North America I will ship it to Port Everglades, FL as soon as the payment is done. There is a 6-8 week period for the car to be delivered in Port Everglades, were the buyer should receive it or make shipping arrangements from there on. All costs related to shipping to Port Everglades are on me, buyer is only responsible for registering the vehicle and shipping inside the US if needed.
