Car description |
---|
1986 Toyota Extra Cab, Long Bed, 2WD 5spd SR5. White camper shell, zebra pattern fur seat covers, grey interior & exterior. Converted from gas to diesel 2L(T), ran SVO (straight veggie oil) and biodiesel blends. Vehicle miles at 240,000 (I put on about 100,000 on gas, but diesel engine mileage before conversion unknown).
Fuel for free by using discarded restaurant vegetable oil to power this truck! Registered with DMV as diesel, so no smog required. I'm reluctant to let this one go, but hope to find a good home to appreciate this extravagent project. After having gone through the process of converting and running the truck for a few years, I have to cut down on projects for the sake of space. One of the only biodiesel mechanics in the bay did the conversion, then I got a brand new turbo (presently running without it) for the extra horsepower, but have not yet installed it. In the process of converting, we removed the power steering pump and AC pump, but still have both included in the sale. Brand new custom exhaust line put in, secondary deep cycle battery installed for more cranking amps. I ordered a secondary tank (for vegetable oil) with pumps, electronic valves, gauge cluster, filter, fuel switch but have not yet installed. Original gas radiator should probably be upgraded to larger one suited for extra cooling required by diesel. It took a lot of effort to gather and prep all these parts! I did most of the hard work, now you get the fun part, convenient and discounted project.
In addition to the vehicle I have many Toyota diesel parts for 2L and 2LT engines (Toyota sold a diesel SR5 in small quantities in the states from 1984-1987). Pictured is the lot I bought off a Toyota Diesel enthusiast when I started the project, a number of the items were used in this conversion, the remainder will be included in this sale. Also included, I have veggie oil pumps, filters, containers, and about 40 gallons of clean settled vegetable oil! Two books on veggie oil vehicles and one Toyota Diesel manual for the factory diesels sold in the US from 1984-1987. These additions may be available as separate negotiations, but are presently listed as a package deal with the vehicle. Contact me for more details.
Local pickup.
I am listing this locally also, so please bid or contact to ensure it is still available.Happy hunting!
