Description
Youtube - "82 toyota V8 conversion"82 Toyota 4x4 long bed, Blue Rhino lined. Custom bumpers, 10,000lbs winch. New 35x12.5x15 Tires. Good interior, Rhino lined floor. Limited slip front/rear. Crawls in low/flies on the freeway. I'm sorry it's a little dusty, I didn't get to wash it before I took the pics. Farm area, everything is dusty here. The Toyota does clean up very nice and blue.
The engine and the transmission have been drained and flushed out 2 times since the install this winter. New cap/rotor/distributor. Radiator is in the back as are a lot of the Toyota/Chevy conversions. All of the Chevy parts put in to the Toyota came from the same 85 3/4 ton Suburban.
I was on the freeway doing 73 mph according to my gps. Going uphill gaining on a big rig, and traffic gaining on me (80 mph speed limit in Idaho) I jumped in the left lain and got on it to pass the truck. This wasn't a hammer down pass, but I did get on it a bit. As I passed the truck I looked at the gps to see I was doing 90 mph plus. This was the first time I'd gone that fast or even close in this little Toyota. I was a little surprised to see it only took a matter of a few seconds to jump to that speed.
The youtube video plays the truck to be very loud. At the time it was running open headers. Now it has a quiet tough sound.
There are still some small things I'm working on, cables and gauges and such. The speedometer cable needs changed thus the gps.
