I am selling my 1987Samurai Tin Top with a VW 1.6L turbodiesel. This vehicle has been professionally built, starts, runs and drives just likea factory built vehicle. Over $20K invested in restoration and conversion. The body has 91,XXX original miles on it.Started with the best original body that could be found andwastaken apart and completely repainted/restored with some very tasteful modifications to the interior and exterior including the stereo. This is the top model for this year with factory tachometer, air conditioning and rear seat. As far as the drivetrain goes, the engine is a VW 1.6L turbodiesel from a 1985 Jetta, it has been completely rebuilt, bored oversize, all new internals, reman turbo and fuel pump. The installation has been done using all the best parts and upgrades from Acme. It has the Kevlar clutch kit, triple electric fans, glow plug relay kit and Dakota Digital tachometer interface. The factory gauges and lights all work like they are supposed to. It has a spring over lift on it and Acme driveshaft spacers. Custom built exhaust, free flowing, but not too loud. There are hundreds of little custom touches on this vehicle, it would take a book to list them all, and I continue to modify it as I see fit. You can drive this anywhere, it gets about 33 MPG if you drive it right. It has plenty of power, will easily tow a small trailer at 70 MPH. It drives better than a stock Samurai and runs better than a stock Jetta, but it is 30 year old technology, you are not buying a new SUV.The original restoration and conversion was done about 6 years ago and has about 7500 miles on it, all the bugs have been worked out it, I drive it almost daily and mileage will go up on it. I reserve the right to end the auction as I have it for sale locally and on other sites. On Oct-02-17 at 14:14:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
I have had many people ask about the back seat so I uploaded pictures of it front and back, down and folded up.
