Offering here a rare 1987 Suzuki Samurai SE in even more rare condition and low mileage of 59,900 +/-. I purchased this vehicle in 2009 and have put about 1,500 miles on it since. I had a JX new in the 80's and wanted to get another Samurai here later in life when I found this SE for sale. If you know Samurai's, you'll know that 1987 was the year they were on fire here in the States and the dealers couldn't keep them in stock and thought the craze would last forever. To offer a more "upscale" model, Suzuki produced the Special Edition that was more showroom bait to keep the craze going. The SE has a color coded paint package, grey not white painted wheels, a "Special" dash emblem, and other decals and special upholstery that made it stand apart. It had its own emblem for the targa bar, and a different gear shift knob, a special 2 tone and smoke, not clear window soft top, and most notably, the only model with split, not a bench, rear seat. Other than that, it was a JX model. This one is in extremely uncommon condition sporting all of the original interior and the original soft top and shiny, not oxidized anywhere, original paint. Having watched the Sami market for nearly 10 years now, I can say this is the nicest Special Edition to come along, one of the nicest Sami's in general left. When I acquired it, I replaced the thermostat, timing belt, water pump, most coolant hoses, and gave it a full tune up including new plug wires and coil for good measure. I then put a sound system in it while maintaining all of the vehicle's originality. There is an amp under the driver's seat and a subwoofer box behind the rear seats. The rear speakers are mounted in ABS enclosures made for a CJ that were custom cut down and mounted with zip ties, agai, all to maintain the vehicle's originality, but boy does it have a great stereo now! But again, no holes, no modifications made. Vehicle comes with the original top in fair condition. It has a couple of tears in the plastic moon roof, and one of the rear zippers needs re-stitching. If you are like me, you will want to fit it with one of the bikini tops that come with the sale, and the tonneau cover if you like that look. I probably bought the last grey bikini and tonneau that was available from Bestop as now you can only get black. The original spare cover was sun damaged and torn on the top of the tread of the tire, so I had the rear panel preserved and mounted to a colored vinyl surround matching the tonneau cover. Additional accessories include side window visors that I found NOS, and front mud flaps. There are original dealer installed fog lights that are currently not working - I have never needed them. The tires are old BF Goodrich slightly oversized, and likely the second set of rubber on the Sami. While they are likely 25 years old, they are in great condition and I just haven't had the heart to ditch them as they look great and work fine. Someone expecting to do a lot of Freeway driving will likely want a new set of tires fitted. As far as condition goes, the paint is original and shines as the photos show. There are several nicks and a few small dents, the largest being a base ball size "push" just behind the driver's targa, and there are small losses to the decals, flea bites here and there. For the interior, the only flaws are a small repaired tear to the side bolster of the driver's seat and the dirt stained carpet where I think a former driver liked to put their left foot - both pictured, otherwise interior is super clean. There is absolutely no rust on the undercarriage aside from surface rust on the forward side of the leaf spring knuckles. Everything works as intended except the reverse light (I think it is the switch as I got it to work once), and this is not an a/c model. I will let the photos do the rest of the explaining and I have many more photos if you are interested. Thank you for your interest and please son't hesitate to send questions. I DO Have a clean Carfax if you are interested, don't know why eBay's AutoCheck states it doesn't have any records...
