1956 STUDEBAKER SKY HAWK COUPE: --White with Light Blue trim, Blue and White two-tone interior, Blue carpeting, 289ci V8 engine with 210bhp, Automatic transmission, Rare one-year only model with just 3,050 produced. While running a tight budget, Studebaker needed a new design language for the 1956 model year. Designed by Bob Bourke of Raymond Loewry and Associates, the new Studebakers featured bigger, bolder grilles, sculpted sides, and small fins. The Sky Hawk did not feature the fins and came equipped with the 210bhp 289ci V8 engine. This Sky Hawk was originally delivered to its first owner through Lathrop G. Hoffman, the Studebaker dealer in Beverly Hills, CA. It remained in its original ownership for the next 40 years until being acquired by notable collector Art Astor. While refinished in its original two-tone White and Light Blue paint and plated chrome, the interior remains in excellent original condition. The 289ci V8 engine was rebuilt during the time of refinishing under Art Astor’s ownership. Since Astor’s ownership, the Sky Hawk has been part of a large Southern car collection where it has been sympathetically serviced and maintained when and where needed. The Sky Hawk runs and drives well showing 47,000 miles. As a rare one year only model Studebaker, it is even rarer to find such a well-preserved and excellent running condition Sky Hawk ready for immediate touring enjoyment. This Sky Hawk includes its original sales documentation.
