Car description

Up for auction is a newly built 51 Studebaker starlight coupe street rod. Here’s the story. This car was a basket case when I got it from my friends farther. The car was sitting for the past 8 years in a warehouse all apart. When I got it. it only was a rolling chassis with a body and doors. I had the hood. trunk; soda blasted along with other parts. A friend and I did all the (200hr hours plus) of body work and I install all new front floors. firewall patches and other misalliance patches. I remove the side vents in the front fenders and made a small air dam for the front. The body came out nice and straight. I used etching and epoxy primers but the paint job came out bad. I painted the car hot rod flat metallic blue and the hardener wasn't right and caused a lot of runs in the paint. Time was running out on this project so I decided to leave it as/is. Now for the rest of what is done. I installed a used good running Chevy 350 with a stock rebuilt turbo 350 with an Edelbrock 4bl carb. Car runs and drives great. no smoking. knocking. ticking or leaking of any kind. Car drives straight down the road with no pulling and stops on a dime with the power brakes. No rattles. It has the original manual steering and it’s really easy to steer. Here is what is new on the car. New B&M shifter setup. I hook up the neutral safety switch and the reverse light switch and ran the wires into the trunk for the reverse lights. You need to but the reverse light. I put in a new aluminum Radiator. coolflex hoses. water pump. nbsp;antifreeze . il and filter . uel pump . uel hoses and filter. tune up. nbsp;Pertronix ignition with flame thrower coil. fan belt. 22 circuit E/Z wiring harness . gages. all headlights and blobs. It has a rebuilt alternator. with new battery and cables. All new 15” tires 205 front and 225 rear. Rebuilt front disk brake calipers with new pads and all new rear brakes. shoes. hardware and wheel cylinders. I installed new axle seals in the S10 non posi rear along with new gear oil. I installed a new Lokar under the dash emergency brake handle with cables and it holds great. I installed the trunk and door weather seals and the passenger window glass in new and car comes with N. I. P windshield seal. I lowered the car 3” all the way around with a front spring drop and lowering blocks on rear and it sits nice. front end has no bottom out banging nor does the rear. Now here are something’s the car needs if you want or drive as is. It needs carpet. sill plates. interior if desired. nbsp;Headliner is fine no rips. Vent window seals. that’s why they have duct tape on them. window weather stripping and guides but the windows do work up and down. The speedometer not working. it’s missing little cable in transducer unit on transmission. Volt gauge shorted out for some reason so it’s disconnect. Horn wires are ran up but needs horns and horn button spring in steering wheel to get it to work right. Car needs wiper linkage and wiper switch. motor works. It has working fuel. oil and temp gages and also a new working cig lighter. All the lights work. high and low beams. dash lights and brake lights and working blinkers with 4 way flashers. All in all it’s a good low buck street rod for someone on a budget. Can drive it the way it is and work on it a little at a time. Far as the paint job it just needs to be block out and replayed to make it look nice. I just don't have the time right now. Ok now the title stuff. The car is still registered in Rhode Island and they don’t issue titles on old car’s like CT. It is still in my friend’s father name and he is still alive and well. He will give you a notarized bill of sale and a copy of the registration. You should have no problem getting the car registered but check you DMV first. There is a VIN # tag on the door and it matches the registration. Car is sold as/is so please ask question first before bidding. You can come and see the car too. just call Loren at 203 687 0834 to make appointment. Please NO solicitations! NO tire kickers! NO trades of any kind. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
