Car description |
---|
Only six Daytona racecars were originally designed and hand-crafted by Peter Brock and Bob Negstad to compete against the finest of auto manufacturers worldwide. All cars were entered in the Grand Touring class with the main focus of beating team Ferrari! The success of the Daytona Coupe was immediate with class wins at Sebring and LeMans that ultimately lead to winning the World Manufacturing Championship in 1965 which was a first for any American manufacturer!
History of the 1964 Shelby Daytona:
Inspired by this legacy, Superformance and Shelby American teamed up to reproduce this supercar to its exact original specifications, only this time with upgraded modern touches and multiple convenience features! All of which are licensed by Carroll Shelby, as well as, designed by Peter Brock and Bob Negstad for complete accuracy. They would become the Shelby CSX9000 Series Daytona MkII Edition. The entire build is factory assembled for optimum strength and durability, starting with a jig-welded tubular steel space frame fitted with fully independent front & rear suspension! The body is composed of vinylester and glass composite that has been professionally prepped in a base coat/clear coat application. The smooth, glasslike results are nothing short of show quality! In addition, the custom Bilstein adjustable coil-over shocks and springs set the car's stance perfectly. Steering comes from a power rack & pinion system, aided by a Shelby Racing/Wilwood ventilated 4-wheel disc brake system for stopping power. All of which, sits on cast alloy wheels fitted with high-performance ZR rated tires!
