1981 Porsche 924 Turbo (a.k.a. 931): Restoration that was a complete tear down and re-build.All suspension components media blasted and powder coated. Upgraded urethane bushings and suspension hardware replaced. Braking system was completely rebuilt; new master cylinder, new lines and hoses, media blasted/high temp painted rebuilt calipers, new rotors and high performance pads. New wheel bearings at the corners, rebuilt CV shafts and alignment by a Porsche/Audi specalist assures perfect handling. Equipped with a 5 speed Limited Slip Differential transaxle for great traction and an upgraded shift linkage for better feel and longevity. All bearings and isolators in the torque tube were replaced and power is transferred to the transaxle through a new, heavy duty clutch that is actuated via new Master and Slave cylinders. The car sits on black powder coated 911 Carrara II wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Tires.The engine was completely re-worked; Custom forged pistons that are ceramic coated, Connecting rods that were polished and super-finished, Cometic head gasket, ARP studs and bolts, upgraded oil pump, balanced and superfinished crankshaft, deck/mains/pan surface all cut and trued. The cylinder head was port and cylinder matched, ceramic coated combustion chambers and was fitted with new valves/guides/seats. The turbo was also freshly rebuilt and along with new springs, bushings and diaphragm in the waste gate and is ready for your boost controller to manage up to 18 lbs. of boost. A period correct 937 style intercooler with associated hood scoop is fitted on the car.All functional rubber on the car was replaced; hoses, mounts, isolators, etc. Both fuel pumps and associated fuel management parts have been replaced with upgraded and/or OEM Bosch units and the fuel distributor was tuned by a Bosch/Porsche specialist. All ignition components are new and upgraded where practical.The interior is new with reupholstered front seats that have a custom embroidered Porsche logo on the headrest. The dashboard has been fiberglass wrapped and re-coated. Controls and venting for the heating system have been re-worked to optimize the defrost feature. A period looking radio with Bluetooth, USB, SD and AUX inputs is paired with 6 speakers for good sound quality.The exterior was re-painted in the classic Meteor Grey Metallic with Porsche logos incorporated into the sides of the front fenders. All external rubber has been replaced; window seals, gaskets, etc. The bumpers have been pulled in 1.5 inches and the ‘US Spec’ rubber pads have been removed. The foam rubber rear spoiler has been replaced with a color matched spoiler from a 968. The antenna was removed from the front fender and moved to the rear-center of the roof.The Bad: motor just had a lifter collapse, and owner is not willing to take the car any futher. Car still runs and drives, but lifter needs replacing.
