Car description

I purchased this car two years ago from a 914 Porsche guy in Pittsburgh and drove it east to a HS reunion in Connecticut. He had taken the car apart and done a high dollar repaint in its original red color. The car had not been driven for any distance in a long time. It DID make the trip east then return to North Dakota, but we had some minor issues like the alternator dying and the exhaust system falling off... In the past two years, I have thoroughly reconditioned many of its systems. The basic body is very straight and the paint glows. Early in its life it was rustproofed and undercoated; it is rust free. I replaced the standard headlights with some Bosch H4; I found some NOS disc rotors at Pelican Parts and replaced all its flexible brake lines with Stainless units. Its master cylinder began to leak fluid back into the booster so a new MC and rebuilt booster (OE part no longer available) joined the car. It had a funny clunk in its right front suspension, which turned out to be a wrong strut cartridge in the MacPherson strut tower. I replaced both with new Koni Sport units. The rear had nearly new KYB Gas Adjust and they were left alone. As I picked the car up in Pittsburgh, I saw that the car had Walmart Tires... those were replaced with Michelin Defenders- OE 14" tires are hard to find. Its A/C and Heater were in-op; I began with a rebuilt heater blower unit, then tackled the A/C. It now has a new Compressor, Condensor, Expansion Valve, dryer, lines and fittings. It will need to be charged when the warm weather gets here. Both seat bottoms had torn seams, so they were both repaired with OE style vinyl. These are the same seats as in my 1977 911 and they sit well. The steering wheel was a little rough on the top, so I installed a leather cover. The Dash WAS perfect, but when I took its cover off, I see that it has developed a crack by the radio speaker. Both Door panels are super clean. This car is quite basic, but then you will not have the problem of 1970's German power windows that frequently fail. Its headliner is like new. I have replaced both sunvisor brackets with aftermarket stainless units- no more broken clips! On the trip home, I replaced the battery with a new one and a new cat back exhaust system. Currently it has a very slight leak by the catalytic converter due to a splice piece of pipe. If one were to replace the catalytic converter the splice piece would be part of the new converter. The current unit has very few miles on it.... I replaced the timing belt, flushed the radiator and cooling system and replaced its radiator and heater hoses. Currently the car has extended life 50/50 Zerex Coolant. Needless to say, there are no leaks and it runs cool. Regular tune-up parts were also installed: plugs, wires, cap, rotor and a rebuilt distributor. Long story short, this car is clean, runs well and should provide lots of fun to its next owner. Its 4 speed transmission works well, as does its clutch. 4th Gear is a wide ratio providing good passing power from 3000 rpm upwards. I am down sizing my collection- someone else's gain! Questions are welcome. Call 701-523-3239 during daytime hours or leave a message after hours and I will return your call. I can help with loading here or, for expenses, deliver it within 600 miles= Minneapollis, Denver, Billings etc. Good Luck bidding.
