Car description

1970 Porsche 914-6 vin # 9140430083 original silver metallic color. Mileage showing on odometer is approximately 83,000. This is an early 914-6 and appears according to the engine number to be the 50th imported into the U.S.

I'm a private seller with a clean Oregon title in my name and a certificate of authenticity from Porsche.

An online album with over 100 pictures showing every inch of this car top to bottom is available, we were not able to add a link to this auction.

Mechanical condition: The engine was rebuilt by well known engine builder, Porsche mechanic and machinist, Dick Elverud in 2007, less than 1000 miles ago. Dick has well over 50 years of experience and has even rebuilt 917 engines!

I installed a new battery and did a brake job (professionally rebuilt calipers, added new brake hoses, master cylinder, 2 new rotors and new pads). The oil was just changed with Brad Penn oil and a new filter was added. I had the carburetor tops removed and cleaned and the jets etc. were also cleaned. I added a new fuel filter and new fuel lines (front under the gas tank and in the engine compartment).

$2400 was just spent making sure that all the lights and the horn works, the 3 speed wipers work well, the hand throttle and heating system and parking brakes etc. all work. The work also included adjusting the rear brake calipers, tuning the engine, the previously mentioned Weber carburetor work, gas tank removal and replacement to add new fuel lines, new ignition switch, shifter bushing etc. I have a copy of this recent work and the engine rebuilt receipt from 10 years ago that I can share with interested parties.

The engine runs great. I recently spoke to the builder regarding details about the engine his recollection is that he built it as a "2.5" but it has been over 10 years so he wasn't 100% sure about that. I do not have the original 914-6 engine. The rebuilt engine in the car is a 1971 911S engine #6311778 with Weber carburetors. The engine runs great, the clutch and transmission are very good to excellent as well. The transmission is numbers matching and original for the car. There is a small oil leak from the left lower valve cover. Magnesium valve covers are notorious for this. I purchased two new upgraded aluminum "930 style" lower valve covers and I'll include those and the seals with the car.

Body and paint: This car has been repainted in the original silver color and my guess is this was done in the distant past; the paint job is tired at this point and may not have been done to a high level back then. Upon close inspection I'm pretty sure that the left front fender and driver's side door were replaced in the past. The paint looks decent anywhere further than 10 feet back, in other words it is "10 footer”. I found only minor rust in a few small places and that was properly repaired by welding in new metal. The battery tray is good having been replaced in the past. Common rust areas on 914's such as the inner rockers/longitudinals, the jacking points, "hell hole" under the battery, the floor boards, and bottoms of the front and rear trunks are great, super solid and not rusty.

Interior: As you can see in the pictures the interior presents well, with nice after market door panels and Porsche 930S steering wheel. The seats are great and look like they have been reupholstered. I added a new carpet kit and had the center console between the seats reupholstered. The dash is decent but it has a couple of cracks.

Tires and wheels: The 4 wheels on the car are real Porsche fuchs 6x15 inch forged alloys (mid-70s dates). The spare is a 5.5x15 steel wheel. According to the C. of A. this 914-6 was delivered new with chrome steel wheels. The tires look good and have minimal wear but they are old.

I have described this car accurately however this is a 48 year old used car therefore this Porsche 914-6 is being sold "as is" without a warranty, express or implied. An inspection in person is recommended before bidding. Seriously interested parties can contact me and I will send contact information for the shop that has serviced this car in the past and recently. This car is located in Portland, Oregon
