1970 Porsche 914-6 with factory steel GT flares and numbers matching engine case
VIN: 9140431902
Engine: 6405287 type 901/38
Trans: 7501904
The 914-6 is one of the rarest Porsche vehicles, with only ~3360 cars manufactured between 1970-1972. The 914-6 GT was a factory special homologated for racing in FIA group 4. The factory only built around 30 themselves. The rest of the GTs were "dealer" GTs built from parts ordered from the Porsche motorsports department. Factory steel GT flares are no longer available new, so this is a rare opportunity. To learn more about 914-6 GTs search "pbase 914-6 gt".
Chassis #1902 has been my project car for nearly a decade. I started to build a complete 914-6 GT on this rust-free California chassis that had been previously modified with fiberglass flares. The steel GT flares were NOS, found hidden in someone's attic for the last 20 years, not AA reproductions. They were welded on and other chassis modifications were performed to prepare for a GT front oil cooler using the factory style steel reinforcement often left out during these builds. Other mods include bolt-in roll cage plates, dog ear re-inforcements, brackets for brass oil-lines and cut-outs for mechanical headlight raisers.
The bodywork and paint were done on a budget intending to build a vintage racecar, not a show car. It looks great from 10 feet but there are many obvious imperfections (see details in pictures.)
The buy-it-now price only includes the rolling chassis with original 914-6 suspension (5-lug), pictured Gotti 15x9 wheels, safetey devices bolt-in cage, and bare matching numbers engine and transmission cases. The engine case was sent to Ollie's last year and had $2500 in work performed including surfacing the case halves and line-bore, oil bypass mod, case squirters installed, and cleaned and tumbled.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an inspection please call me at 7o7-342-22o9
The car is located in the SF bay area, and I can deliver to the shipping company of your selection within 100 miles. A clean and clear california title is in my name.
