Car description |

We have a very nice Porsche 914. We got the car in trade for something else we had, but have driven it and it makes a great daily driver. I have been around Porsche cars for most of my life, I have had many 914 cars and even though not super mechanical, I know the basics of what is good and bad in at least 914's. The main thing right off with this car is that the frame is solid and has no known or otherwise repairs. Typically the area under the battery box rusts away and causes the rear torsion bar to rust out and eats away the frame (hell hole its called) . This car is SOLID there and everywhere else we can detect and this makes it very rare. I was able to jack the front up too and take some photos, the pan appears original (lines in it as factory) and is clean. It could use repainted under there maybe, but no known rust that I saw. It is very clean. The floor pans also appear original, original lines, etc, and are clean and without any detected rust. ALL VERY RARE.... In the documents with the car, there is a signed letter from quite some time ago that indicates that the past two owners believe the mileage is accurate. A photo of the letter is listed here. While I have no idea if it is accurate or not, to me it appears very reasonable based on the overall condition of the car. I do not think it has been driven much, but I have no way to verify. What you see, I see. The car has the 1.7 liter engine, and it also has been converted to a new (in the recent past) Weber carb. It starts right up, hot or cold, runs well, drives well, no vibrations, its reasonably quick (for a 4cyl 44+ year old car), and despite have "gook" on the bottom of the engine and area around it, does not leak or drip. (Odd for a 914) (yes, it is full of oil). It is smooth driving, have literally BRAND NEW tires, and its fun to drive. The tachometer when you turn the key on, pegs all the way over... not sure what that is all about. I think the coil wire is in the wrong place for the pickup, but am not smart enough to be able to figure out which it is. Likely an easy fix. Everything else works as it should, windows roll up and down, top is clean and good condition. Paint is newer, not sure how new, but would guess in the last 10 years. It has very slight clear coat peeling in the middle of the trunk, but not camera visible... and minor. I just tried to find it in a pic and you cannot see it. Not trying to hide anything, but it is there. Also noticed the truck wasnt latched in a couple pics. It is now. It has been converted to electric release with a button under the dash due to the addition of the porsche rear reflector panel. Car has nice rear exhaust system, appears to be Monza, but no names are present that I can find. 4 tips, looks neat, sounds great. Headlights work, as do all the other lights, no issues there. It is truly a great driver and would not take much to completely restore it, or otherwise, I believe it is good to go as a driver now. I have driven is round trip from North Charleston to Isle of Palms (google) several times now and no hint of any issues, all interstate driving. Dont ask me if you can drive it home, I have no idea, though I havent any personal concerns and pending where home is, I likely would. I did just have the oil changed so it has fresh oil.
In the pictures, please notice the right hand mirror is not installed. I have it, just havent looked at it to see how it goes on. Also, I have the rear view mirror, it is not attached, but comes with car. Maybe if I get a moment, I will install these items. This auction has a reserve, but it is way less than I have in the car. I am hopeful to get 14 to 16k for it and try to come out as close to even as I can. There are a lot of 914s out there, I know, but this car is a decent car and hasnt been plagued with the frame rust and typical 914 issues and can be a daily driver or a very easy restore, whichever the new owner wants....not to mention a great driver right now! Might consider a trade towards a single engine aircraft, if someone had interest, we will add money to the right deal. The car is for sale locally for $16,500, and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time if it sells prior. We WELCOME any prebuy inspections, come see it, drive it, whatever... but do so prior to the end of the auction. I need it out of my warehouse. After the sale, if it sells, it belongs to the new owner... inspection time long past. We are happy to help ship it, might even deliver it for costs, depending how close to Charleston, SC you may be.
ANY questions, call us. 843 410 0108.

I forgot to mention that we do have the front and rear trunk carpets, (removed for photos), the spare tire, tools (i think), and an appearingly new set of trunk and bonnet seals. Also, this car has the updated chrome front and rear bumpers too... very nice.
