1983 Porsche 944
PUT THE FUN BACK INTO DRIVING!
1983 Porsche 944: Zermatt Silver with Black & Tan interior VIN: WP0ZZZ94ZDN453640 - clean CarFaxIt's more raw than a typical 944 with it's manual steering and limited power options (just windows & mirrors) and drives like a go-kart. I have driven a good number of 944s, his is more sporting and connected than any I can remember outside of a race or heavily modified version. Feels more responsive even than some late model 944 Turbos, not as quick - but more connected. This car has mostly non-power options - making this lighter than most and less prone to power issues. It drives like a 944 should and bests many others I have driven - including ultra low mileage examples. Options- Zermatt Silver - metallic paint changes from silver to light bronze depending on the light. "Is that my car?"
- Manual steering - much more sporting to drive than your typical 944. You get the road feel that all 944s should have, ut don't! It's a big go-kart.
- Seats: Manual vinyl seats (lower center of gravity & less weight than power or leather seats) - looks & feels like new & super comfortable - prefer these over leather or cloth versions. Back adjustment is really easy to use and interior accommodates tall people - 6'3" friend loves the headroom! Considered taking these seats out I like them that much!
- Manual door locks - yes, ou actually have to use a key to lock it!
- Sunroof - (pop up/removable) - NOTE: this is a non-power sunroof
- 911 style 3 spoke sport steering wheel
- Power mirrors
- Power windows
- Rear wiper
- Headlight washers
- Driving lights
- Fog lights
- Factory alarm - works fine & original alarm key included
- Limited slip differential
- Porsche center tail light (it grows on you - looks nicer than a license plate!)
- Cookie cutter wheels with magnesium alloy lug nuts
- Hatch cover - vinyl looks new but return spring needs work.
- Tan carpet - good pile and color.
- Black dash, eats, oor panels - no typical oddball Porsche browns - nice black contrasting with light tan carpeting.
- Modern stereo with Ipod / digital input connection.
- Brisk acceleration - smooth and jet-like (is this a BMW straight-6?)
- Very original example! All original hose clamps, onnections, tc.
- Oil pressure is excellent: high at start, alls to above mid-gauge when warmed up and climbs to full pressure under the slightest acceleration- as it should be!
- Idles generally between 900-950 RPM (ideal)
- Clutch pressure and actuation are good.
- AC - works but due for a recharge.
- Both radiator fans work - an anomaly among 944s....
- Pop up headlights go up and down quickly & smoothly.
- K&N style air filter-charger - the only modification (besides stereo) on this car. Sucks air in and sounds like a mild supercharger.....original air box included with sale.
- Sun roof latches engage & disengage well.
- Wind visor works very well (pops up as it should) & looks like new (no cracks, roken hinges or fading)
- Documented 100k miles - standard 944 flaw- current non-working odometer. Mileage exempt stateside. Either replace the tiny plastic gear, eave it, r install the nearly NOS gauge set that might be included with sale (depending on sale price). FYI - according to the owners manual that no one reads, ou are not supposed to reset the odometer while driving - perhaps that's why so many '80s Porsche odometer's are broken......would have been nice if they made them better!
- Recent timing belt & turbo H20 pump.
- Nearly corrosion free southern car (only been in the Midwest for a few months)
- Duralast Gold Battery, osch plugs, eru wires, osch cap, eru rotor, oltage regulator and Bosch ignition coil, br>
- Fluid change - engine oil (conventional 20/50), nbsp;coolant flush & change, ransmission oil (conventional)
- Oxygen sensor, ater temperature sensor, peed/reference sensors, hrottle position sensor
- Bosch fuel pressure regulator, uel pump, ahle fuel filter, uel pump relay
- New wipers, ood & hatch struts - no falling hood or hatch!
- Fresh fuses, ulbs, lectrical contacts points refurbished
- Sunroof gaskets re-sealed (no evidence of previous leaks)
- Brake pads + extra set included
- New Maxxis all season tires
- Body & paint are consistent with the age & mileage - a few door dings, ood ding, inor rock chips, lear coat issues, tc. Recently touched up most nicks and will include premium touch up paint. It's got 100k, 2+ years old, been in the south (sun/heat) so clear coat is a little faded on roof & hood. Fender and qp were resprayed at some point but look good.
- Topside of dash is cracked (extremely common - '80s plastic can't take the sun!- previous owner installed a velvet dash cover. Secured with velcro - easy removal if desired. After a few drives - you forget it's even there.
- New aerial does not move up with the new stereo - don't think it's wired up at all, ut reception is good anyway.
- Lowest portion of front spoiler is a little warped - again not that noticeable - just makes it look a little aggressive
- Parking brake lever is not installed but included.
- Hood light is not working
- Passenger door hinge limiter was removed (no idea why) but is included, eft it off as it's nice to be able to open the door wide! Great if you have a chubby or elderly passenger :) Door still shuts like a bank vault!
- Rear glass has tiny separation from frame-not the typical glass de-lamination, ust a separation from the metal frame - prob tap frame back into place. Does not leak in the rain.
- Driver side headlight washer hose is disconnected - did not get around to it.
