The 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition is already a terrific collector car. So to find a two-owner example that has the right original pieces (like the numbers-matching V8) and upgraded for the best experience (like the modern air conditioning) means this is a distinct T-top classic made for true enjoyment.
These anniversary cars were given a special color called Platinum Silver, and this one was given a careful respray later in life to make sure there's still a nice luster in the sunshine. More than just the special color, these cars are truly special for their overall presentation. The hood has a special version of the "screaming" hood bird that's exclusive to these cars. Its wingspan is wider than others so it can be a transition to the darker silver accent color that runs from the shaker hood, around the doors, and ends at the pinstripe behind the T-tops. And speaking of the pinstripe, this red and black dual line is used to outline just about every detail on this coupe. It's a total package that takes big money and good care to keep it looking this good. But then again, this is the right car to receive all the extra attention and investment. Averaging about 1,200 miles annually means this one is already a low mileage standout even if this is parked next to another one of the rare 7,500 Trans Am 10th anniversary examples.
Inside, the silver leather interior is a standout hallmark of this special edition car. That's why there was the right mix of investments and preservation to keep this unique setup looking so good. You even have the black and red accenting just like the exterior pinstripe, and other cool details, like the Firebird logo stitched into the doors! That's why you'll be especially happy to take out the glass T-tops and share this full uniform package with the world. When you do, you get to feel as cool as you look thanks to R134a air conditioning. In fact, this comes loaded with all the best features, including power windows, power steering, three-speed automatic transmission, center console, and cruise control. The original AM/FM stereo with 8-track is even still working. The driver gets a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, and beyond that, the dash is framed in the T/A's hallmark machine-turned aluminum panel. So this really offers a terrific sports car experience.
The 403 cubic-inch V8 is the numbers-matching motor to the coupe. Not only does low mileage means less time to get it dirty, but also you can also see there was time and money spent here to keep this looking fresh and tidy. Topped with a four-barrel carburetor, this V8 develops plenty of torque, and the quad-tip exhaust has plenty of bass. As you'll see from the included buildsheet, this was born a desirable WS6 car. That means a terrific handling package that was the envy of its day. It includes sway bars front & rear as well as four-wheel disc brakes. With the cool and correct turbo-style alloy wheels carrying wide BF Goodrich T/A rubber, this is an all-around terrific driving package.
The sale comes complete with the right paperwork, including the original window sticker, factory buildsheet, original bill of sale, warranty card, owner's manual packet, and title documentation. It all makes sure you know you have a classic with true pedigree. Call now!
