Car description |
---|
1973 Pontiac Formula 455 Firebird 4 Speed. I purchased this car complete minus the engine and transmission. It’s a true Formula 455, 4 speed. Only around 200 of these were built in 1973!
The current engine is a newly rebuilt 400, bored .030 over with a Ram Air III cam, built by renowned engine builder Don Ewing in Snellville, GA. Holley 670 Avenger (electric choke) carburetor with a Holley Street Dominator intake. Ram Air Restorations factory headers. Runs and sounds fantastic!
The transmission is a Muncie M21 4 speed, just rebuilt by Laymon Brannon in Grayson, GA. New synchronizers, bearings and seals, new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and pilot bushing. New Hurst Competition Plus shifter and handle. Shifts perfectly!
New dual exhaust from Summit Racing Equipment, 2 ½ inch pipes into one horizontal flow-through muffler that tucks up under the rear seat area.
Original limited slip (posi) rear end with 3.24 gears.
Originally burgundy exterior with burgundy interior. Very little paint left on it when found. I had it soda blasted and found nearly all of the metal needed replacing. Graverobbers Sheetmetal Replacement in Cumming, GA replaced the complete rear quarters, rear tail panel, trunk lid, entire floor – front to rear, roof skin, door skins, front fenders, inner fenders and firewall. This was all done on a jig to be sure everything lined up as it should. Still has the original fiberglass, REAL Ram Air hood (with new hood hinges)! Now painted the brightest white available, base coat, clear coat. New windshield, rear glass and door glass.
The interior is now the brightest red I could find from PUI Interiors. New seat covers, door panels, headliner, 4 speed console, dash cover, package tray, black carpet. Original plastic panels were painted red and reused. Still has the original, working AM/FM 8-track stereo (with a 1973 Fleetwood Mac 8-track).
Originally a non-AC car, now has brand new Vintage Air with electronic controls. Freezing cold AC and excellent heat.
All wiring was replaced with an American Autowire Classic Upgrade kit. Even the high and low horns are new.
New aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. It runs below 210 degrees even on the hottest Georgia summer days!
New 100 amp alternator to provide plenty of power for the AC and electric fans, plus any stereo upgrades for the next guy (I prefer to listen to the engine).
New fuel tank and lines, front to rear.
All steering and suspension bushings have been replaced, as well as all serviceable joints and linkage. New power steering pump and lines. New 2 inch lowering coil springs in front and 2 inch lowering leaf springs in the rear give it an excellent stance. New front and rear shocks. Entire new brake system, including front to rear brake lines, calipers, master cylinder, power brake booster and parking brake cables. Original front rotors and rear drums were turned and reused.
Front sub frame was replaced with a good one from a donor car. The original sub frame mounting holes were rusted and I chose to replace it rather than repair the rust. All new frame mount bushings are new.
New reproduction Pontiac Rally Wheels, 15X8 all around, with Cooper Cobra tires.
This is basically a brand new car that is 46 years old. It drives, handles and sounds great!
Bill of sale only as Georgia will not issue a new title on an old car. VIN verification provided to show there are no legal issues with the car.
